Has anyone ever seen a grey horse go dark again after going white? My boy has gone from dark grey to white, all last year he was white with the odd few fleabites, but this spring he's turning dark again... I always though once they had gone white grey, that's it!! He has me very puzzled

Ehh?? Greying is something that happens to the coat.is it the whole body going darker or patches like dappling? |
Everyone in my life brings me happiness, some by arriving others by leaving. |

I don't clip or rug Armos and in his winter coat he's now almost 100% white but in summer his coat is starting to go flea-bitten,can't see on winter longer coat it only shows on short summer coat, could it be something like this?Other than that can't imagine it would be possible,if he really went back to dark then it could be a major breakthrough for all those with greying hair! Second Callisto pictures would help |

A friend has a grey mare that is black in the winter and light grey with a black head in the summer! I suppose it's would be a blue roan in stead of grey. |

My buckskin pony has long creamy hair in the winter, now he is moulting and his head, neck and shoulders are nearly black, however when his full summer coat comes through he will be a sort of creamy apricot with black points - its a sort of interim colour, he does it every year, although he does seem to get darker during this phase every year as he gets older - could it be something similar? |

Have you seen the old thread 'Show me your fleabitten arabs!' sorry I haven't got the hang of links yet. Especially Tiffaha and holly blue. Any part of my boys body is only white for one season and then the spots start, he's never the same colour two seasons running,I think he may be trying to compete with the girls mentioned above. parts of his face now seem to have more brown than white, but if you look at the above thread he is descended from several of the horses on there. |

Yup, his spots came last year, this year, his spots are still there but his coat is going dark again!! I'm baffled!!! I am not sure how to add photos on here but I'll take some tomorrow and have a go. I can post one from July last year, and one from tomorrow... It's patchy, but not dappled. Its very odd!!! Someone did suggest that he may have a better diet than he did last year which may come through in his coat (we haven't had him a year yet). Weird weird!! |
