They are full sisters to the stallion that was gelded last year called Silver Blossom'.. sold very cheaply last year and recently advertised on Facebook/ preloved as a gelding for £2k. |

I hate to see horses sold on FB, especially on a general page in an auction. Even worse than p'vd. The horse world has changed so much since I was young |

yes, Yorkshire post and wom. I remember those days, I think purchases were less impulsive. Those 2 mares remain unsold as the dealer has declared a reserve of £1K. This is common on this site, What I would say is that to advertise them for sale as brood mares isn't the best thing to do as they have never had a foal and are in their teens now. Potential would be better, I do hope that they go to great homes where they will be loved whatever, rather than be passed on and on. I just wish I could stop feeling responsible for everyone's horses, or were 10 years younger, or considerably richer! |

I have been told by an interested party that the older mare failed a vetting due to a sarcoid. |

What a pity she failed the vet test and maybe missed out on a good home. Sarcoids are so varied on prognosis, but my vet told me she wouldn't necessarily fail a horse it could be advisory depending on type and location and we don't know the details and if existing problem then no insurance cover. Treatment is expensive but often successful as in my lads case ( thank you NFU) all good 6 yrs on.

But would anyone recommend breeding from a horse with sarcoids? I am sure that there is a current theory that they are hereditary and these mares are being sold as "potential" broodmares. I think he should wake up, do the best for the horses and get them into an appropriate home where their future will be secured. I HATE to see horses just seen as a commodity |

I went to a talk last year by Professor Knottenbelt on sarcoids and skin issues , his thoughts are by choice no you wouldn,t breed from a mare with sarcoids and in this day and age with so many looking for homes i would say it would be stupid to breed from her. My vet passed my mare 10yrs ago with a sarcoid she was £8000 so not a cheap mare but NFU insured her and we had the Liverpool cream , took two attempts to get rid of it but it did go. They would not put me off buying a horse as a riding horse so long as they were not where any tack would go and subject to me having them treated either with the cream or laser which a friend used on her horse. Fingers crossed for these two they look like lovely mares, just so sad they are at a dealers but hopefully they will not be there for too much longer. |

About sarcoids. My old TB mare had literally 100 plus all over (bought with none). Back in the day no treatment apart from banding etc. My grans friend was a charmer (faith healer) and she worked her magick and they all but one disappeared. Believe... |

I am beginning to think these mares are in need of rescue, reports from someone who has viewed them are not good. Allegedly the price has now been reduced by half. God I hate this sort of thing. |

Agree so very sad and apologies I missed the broodmare link to sarcoids was just hoping for a good home. I agree the susceptibility to the bovine virus that is thought to trigger the immune response that causes sarcoids maybe hereditary. I wish I had the money to help rescue but can only do right by own. A lottery win would change things.
