Im trying to find any photo's of Mancala himself?

He was in a very long time ago (15 odd years ago?), but I cant find that magazine or even any images on the web.
If anyone knows anything about him, including his show history etc, I would love to hear.
I have his pedigree but a photo would be brilliant.

I have a lovely lad who is by Mancala, bred by Christine Beckett of Rothay Stud.
He arrived with me at 6mth of age and he is almost 19 now! Never been sold or loaned, just a life of lazy luxury lol.

Looking at registrations info, Mancala was foaled in 1977, was bay and sired 25 offspring. One was exported to Italy and that one plus another (both mares) had offspring of their own. The last foal registered by him was in 1997. I don't know if there are any pictures of him in any of my old books/magazines but if I come across any I'll post again.

Edit to say welcome, just noticed this was your first post here - I'm relatively new here too.

Hi, thank you Gardenia.

Brand new here to try to find some info out.
Where did you access the offspring information? I have not found that.

Mancala is a beautiful grey and was based in Aberystwyth when he sired my lad.
Just seen my post has a smiley face in it? I had typed he was in Arabian
magazine a very long time ago but unsure which one or when, and think he may have even been the cover photo.

Thanks again

His colour is not listed on allbreedpedigree, but his sire Halma was a dark chestnut.

Here is a (obviously incomplete) list of his offspring that are on allbreedpedigree:-

Horse Color Sex Year Sire Dam Breed
BEZIQUE9 C 1982 MANCALA LITTLE GEM12 ARABIAN
BROADSWORD4 C 1985 MANCALA SUHAILI ARABIAN
CALA SPRITE M 1998 MANCALA - ARABIAN
ESKALABAR C 1980 MANCALA SILVER SWIRL ARABIAN
SILVER CELENDINE F 1981 MANCALA SILVER CIRCLE2 ARABIAN
SILVER MARINER C 1986 MANCALA SILVER CIRCLE2 ARABIAN

If you can wait until I get home I can look in my studbook to see what it says about his colour, his breeder and his later owners (if any).

Welcome to Arabian Lines jm2k sorry none of this helps you find a photo of him, but hopefully someone out there has one

Aberporth is just down the road from Aberystwyth but not many people would know the small village over the town.
I could have sworn the photo I remember seeing was of him being a grey.
My boy is a grey, not listed on allbreedpedigree, think his dam was grey but unsure at this minute.
Will pull his pedigree records out this week and get more info off them too.

Callisto - no rush or panic, just happy to know more. Ive had him all his life so no rush :-)

Ive also a same age, part bred mare by Flying Duke / Grand Duke also bred in West Wales but different breeders.

Where did you access the offspring information? I have not found that.

I have a subscription to the database of the Arabian Horse Association in the USA which covers most, maybe all, of the world's Arabian stud books, but I also have the UK Stud Books up to Vol. 15 and in both places Mancala is listed as bay (he's in AHSB Vol. 13). He can't have turned grey as neither parent was grey unless they turned after registration (and I don't remember either as being grey), however he sired four grey foals. Two are males, RS Dakhil and Silver Senga. The latter's dam was grey, the former's was registered chestnut but she must have turned grey (she did have a grey parent).

Yes, Mancala was bred by Mrs. D. E. Carlile

RS (Rothay Stud) Dakhil is my lad.
He was chestnut as a foal but is now barely a flea-bitten grey, just a sprinkle of brown on his neck.
His dam was grey which I do remember, but no idea why I was so convinced Mancala was grey!
My memory over all these years must have got the better of me :/
Its a shame neither have a photo logged of him.

Really appreciate your help :)

Silver Senga is/was a grey, foaled in 1988, out of Silver Swirl, and completed over 1500 competitive km in endurance with Jackie Goodwin between 1994 and 2003.

He won many local shows, did well at the big shows - Royal Welsh, Arab show, Pembs counties, Three counties. Also excelled at dressage and was in Pony club team although a stallion. He was very well behaved when ridden. He went from the big show ring at the Arab show in Chepstow to a local show the next day to do bareback jumping, gymkhana and much more. Very versatile chap and I still own many of his grand children and great grandchildren who are equally good ridden horses. Sadly he had a stroke at 20 and had to be PTS. Very sad day! Can't seem to add photo as won't let me.
