Hi
You may remember we took on Red House Gaia (Gaia to us) at New Year as she was due to be PTS. She cost £1.
She is by WSA Charismma out of Red House Ismene:

Well after lots of timidness, meltdowns and panics, from her over the winter we are really getting somewhere with her. Everyday she shows mpre of her character, which really has some opinions!
There are various issues she came with:
- petrified of stables - we only have a paddock paradise - couldn't be caught - no longer an issue - cold backed - Free n easy saddle sorted this out - nervous of men - work in progress - etc, etc
So she is doing really well, and took her to her first endurance ride yesterday the EGB Hardys Ride in Dorset to do the 20km pleasure ride. She coped really well. The farrier was lovely to her (our trimmer is a woman) and the male vet at the end took it slowly - her heart rate was 41bpm and she averaged 9kph, was so proud of her!
Some pics:
At home before we left
At the start - the timekeepers like her ;)
After final vetting

She looks really pretty, well done to you both! It so nice to hear that the farrier and vet understood her. Lucky pony. x |

How lucky she was to find you. Your hard work is paying off - she looks sane and sensible at the start and very happy and contented at the end. |

I nearly refused to go and see her. Not because of her issues, but because of 3 main reasons - the phone call was only 2 days after we lost Blaze and another horse hadn't crossed my mind, she was grey, and the biggest reason she was an ex-in hand show arab.
But I did go as she was fairly local and I thought that if the alternative was pts, I really should look.
When I met her she melted my heart and there was no question about whether she was coming home. I might not have been ready, after losing Blaze, but Gaia didn't have time for me to be ready :(
The most embarrassing thing about Gaia, is that she thinks endurance vetting is the same as showing off in the show ring ;) |

Fantastic that she has come so far, so quickly , and some lovely horses in her pedigree. Thank goodness she found a home with you, a terrible loss for you, but an absolute godsend for her, that you had a space |

She looks like a total poppet. My older horse still doesn't much like men. I'm not sure its that they necessarily have a bad experience, just that they are taller and have lower voices? |

Vera - that phone call was probably one if the best things you ever did.
She is one if the sweetest, most adorable horses I have met :) She is much loved, but as her character and confidence blooms, it becomes easier and easier to love her :)

Wow! She looks super & so like her Mum! So lucky you went & saw her. If she's anything like Ismene, once you've won her over you will have a very loyal friend. |
