No, but you've reminded me to get everything covered in the 'aviary' that is my stable block! So far we've just got sparrows along the outside edge of Red's stable throwing old hair and stuff into his bed. |

No sign yet in West Yorks. I have moved stables on same yard and so hope I get a nest, in our old box they swooped in just over Ari's head or even between his ears. I just love swallows |

Nothing yet Pat. I too love them and can't wait for their return. Do you all remove last years nests before they come back? I didn't last year as I thought they'd want to reuse them, but they didn't and just built new ones. Now I have about six nests and wondering about removing them

Not yet but we have 3 of the tiniest ducklings on our pond! These are 3rd generation from some wild ducks, that are now tame and come running up to stable yard demanding feed everytime they see us. It took 4 days last year to get the duckling brave enough to eat from hands...so sweet!

Nothing at ours yet, our gardener did notice today a bird was making its nest on top of the rake in the store room , normally i close the door to this room when i am not here so i got him to knock a plank of wood off the front so the bird can still come in to its nest when the doors shut, will try and watch out to see who is building it. The lapwings and curlews are back on the moor yelling at me when i walk the dogs , looking forward to seeing the swallows back though. |

Great some have arrived so only a matter of days now for us in West Yorks. Being near the moor we have lots of Pheasants, lovely big birds but very stupid and everywhere now in breeding season. They spend a lot of time on the ground waiting for horses ready to oink loudly as they attempt to get their fat bods into flight thankfully my not so daft Arab always on the lookout spots em in the bracken knows what's coming and ignores the flapping and vocals. They scare the more laid back ned (and me) to death lol Apologies for going off piste but there is no better way to see wildlife than on a horse. |

Yep, saw a hare this morning.Still no swallows.
I am just watching a red kite through the window swooping over the lamb field. So i had better go and check no lambs are in trouble. |

No lambs in trouble, but this is the how helpful watching widlife can be. Off topic again sorry.
in the next door field the kite had alerted me to two of my collies with a rolled up hedgehog. Because Fancy has some blood on her muzzle I have brought it in for the day so that I can check it is okay and give it a feed of cat food before I let it go at dusk. I think she only *****led hersel from it's spines though. If the kite hadn't shown me where they were they could have injured the hog. It is a good sized one having come through hibernation successfully. |

Still no Swallows here , we have Kites here as well, love watching them , Grouse and Pheasants en mass , cuckoos should be here soon too. Quarabian hope Hedgie is going to be ok We have tons of baby bunnies , sadly we also have tons of dead bay bunnies as my cat Thomas is partial to a baby bunny or two, i normally throw the bodies over the gate and onto the moor for the Kites , today just as i was letting go of it my neighbour went pass on his bike he nearly got hit by a low flying dead headless bunny, i did shout sorry and he laughed so must of seen the funny side of it ( i hope ) |

Quarabian I would be almost certain the blood will have been from your dog so hope hedgehog ok. My terrier dug a complete circle around a hedgehog which was unharmed. I am still repairing the lawn! Kites are beautiful and fabulous showmen, I am convinced they know we are watching. No Swallows in Bingley West Yorks yet but they would have needed jumpers had they arrived today so cold. I love my cats but so wish they only killed rats. |

Hedgehog okay. He ate his cat food and went back to sleep. I laughed when I saw my previous post because AL sensorship did not allow pickled with an 'r' after the p.
If it is warm tonight I will let him go where I found him. |

I thought i saw two of mine yesterday teatime but wasn,t sure and i was quite sad as some people were here looking at my mini stallion, i have had him since he was 5 weeks old but hes not had a mare for 2yrs as i no longer breed them and he was due to be gelded this week. A lovely family asked if they could come and view him and they have 3 mini ladies waiting for him at home so he went last night on condition they let me know if they cannot keep him and he comes home. When i went out to the stables this morning i could hear the pair of them chatting away , so nice to have them back |
