The only time I bandage or boot is for protection - as youngsters both of mine tended to clip the inside of their hindlegs (they were shod), Lily in particular has thin skin so I have had problems with boots rubbing, and have found that the best option is exercise bandages. As soon as she strengthens up and stops clipping herself I will stop using them. Arabs should have good strong legs and not need any support.

The best boot type option I found was Eqilibrium Stretch and flex Flatwork Wraps, but the bandages work better.

No, I have never used boots/bandages for support. I don't use them for travelling either - unless it is to a show and I want to keep white legs clean!

My personal view is that you shouldn't be doing enough with a 3 year old to need support.

Nope the only time i've put boots on Ishara was at our first sponsored ride so she's only worn them once.

I used to look after two horses for someone and she used to bandage her horses to be ridden and they were bandaged every night, i do sometimes use bandages for schooling I prefer them to boots as I find dirt can get under boots and rub, i also bandage one of my horses at night as she has had tendon trouble just offers some protection and support, be really carefull bandaging as you can do awfull damage if on too tight or uneven, i sometimes bandage both my horses at night depending on ehat there doing and if its really cold I might bandage too for warmth its a bit old school but I like seeing them, mind you arabi would bite his when he was young and try and pull them off but he also didnt like rugs much either so if your horse is young might have to get them used to the feeling, i also think they accept the travel boots once they have worn bandages.

brushing boots and overreach boots on everything in work - habit mostly - and just in case of a knock or tread. Rather rip a £15 pair of boots than have a wound/vet bill/forced time off.

Brushing boots for work and travel. Like Mrs Vlacq, just incase of a knock.
