I am so fed up of trying to get my photos on this site! Surely the adminisrators could sort this problem out! I have followed the instructions umpteen times, and have given up on all occasions.Unless you are a computer whizzkid which I am not, then it probably is easy! ? I am sure there are a lot of you out there that have the same problem? If so, please add to this topic, and maybe something will be done to make it simple! Could do with a system similar ebay when uploading images.

I have found that the option of using Photobucket is the best for me personally.
You set up an account and upload the photos straight from your computer onto this account. You then copy and paste the IMG code into your posts on AL and the pictures are posted.
I have heard Flickr is much harder to use so have avoided it. Hope this helped a bit.

I joined on 21/6/11 so that I could pay tribute to Di Ellis' retirement as I purchased some of her lovely Marbon Arabians. It's taken me since then to find the time to learn how to post photos. I email them frequently to friends but had to sign up and load them on to Photobucket just so that I could post them here - it was then trial & error! I used Photobucket because I was told by friends that it's easier to post on from than from Flickr, however I notice that there is a quick link on Arabianlines from Flickr - did I make the wrong choice? |

Photobucket is the easiest way now, because you can copy the IMG code from there, as Pheebs correctly put it, and paste it here, inside the message window, without any other effort.
Flickr will require you to copy stuff too, but then you come here and need to paste it inside our special page, as their imaging code does not work directly inside our messaging window. So flickr will require 3 more mouse clicks, when using our flickr page, but that's it. So the difficulty is similar, with flickr requiring a little bit more effort (the 3 mouse clicks I mentioned - one to open our flickr tool page, another to get it to insert the forum code and another to close that window).
Our guide details the procedure in both cases: http://www.arabianlines.com/forum1/topic_new.asp?TOPIC_ID=26867 |

Thanks Rui. I'll stick with Photobucket. One more question - how do I get my picture (of Magician's head) to display under username in the Author column? I managed to download it to the member's profile page by copying and pasting the "direct link" URL as it wouldn't work at all using the "Image" URL, but it doesn't show on the post pages (like you have a photo of a cat under Rui). |

I have trouble too and use flickr. Never been able to put up photos. Facebook is easy, just browse and add. So I shall try photobucket instead. |

Pasch right click on a mac is...highlight what you want to copy, then hold down the control key (2nd key in the bottom left) and click the mouse pad. You will get a menu..its the same for pasting. Took me a while, I had to ask my big bruv the apple mac geek. Still not sure how to do alot of things. If you want to select more than one photo from your desktop..say for facebook or something, then you hold the command key (left to the space bar) and click the mouse pad. |

Just to add to this... I have only ever used Flikr, and find this way to post quite easy. I'm not sure what problems people are having but I do know that finding the URL in there has changed. All I do now (once my picture has been uploaded to flikr) is right click on the picture, select "properties" from the drop down box, copy it, then paste it in between the " [img] [/img] " code in your AL post,, ie Really easy...
PS I have also found an ap on iPhone for flikr so I can upload photos to that on my phone, so there is no need to first upload photos to another pc before I put onto flikr... |
