Hello there - I am searching for descendants of my uncle's arabians which he bred from The Old Farm Stud, Loughton,Bletchley, Bucks in the 1950s-1970s. Some of his mares included: Velutina; Golden Jubilee; Kamia; Crystal Dew; Lady Domino; Magic Diamond; Ailean, Lady Isabel; Lady of Milton Keynes; Phillippa; Something Special; Other offspring I remember are: Wasel Gerwazy; Golden Irex - my mind has gone blank now but there were many more. I know that Golden Domino was exported to Texas and that Sirel, who stands in Holland, is a descendant but I would be interested to know if there are any in the UK.

Hi and welcome to Arabian Lines

Have you tried entering their names on the Allbreedpedigree website? It is not a complete record, but below are a couple of descendants of Velutina - if you enter the horse's name and it has been recorded on allbreedpedigree, and then go the the reports tab on the top left, and then choose the progeny tab, it will give you the offspring that have been entered on this website. The horses with asterisks next to their names on the pedigree itself have photos, and if you click on the tiny photo icon next to their name in the top middle of the pedigree you can view the picture. If there is an icon of a small 'i' in a circle next to the name it means that someone has posted information of that horse, which may be of interest.

This is the pedigree of a Dutch Warmblood descended from Velutina

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/index.php?query_type=horse&h=RUBIN33&g=5&cellpadding=0&small_font=1&l=

This is another of Velutina's descendents:

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/index.php?query_type=horse&h=OFIRAH&g=5&cellpadding=0&small_font=1&l=

Unfortunately none of the names you have listed appear in my Crabbet's pedigree, but I'm sure that someone on here will be able to help you.

Edited to add: There are a lot of progeny listed for Wasel Gerwazy.

Thank you very much for that. Is the Arabdatasource something I could log onto? I think a lot of the horses may have been registered under Mrs Scott's name (my uncle's partner) until she died. Also, have you heard of a lady called Eileen Thomas? There are lots of cards from her to Mrs Scott. Many thanks.

Thank you. I am currently trying to find out as much as I can about Isobel Scott and my uncle and their arabs. Mrs Scott had a great influence over me when I was young - I learned to ride on her recalcitrant welsh pony and used to accompany her to shows. I absolutely loved her horses but never knew there was much more to arab breeding - it was only recently I realised her arabs may be a bit special, I think mostly of crabbet blood, but I am still learning as I don't know much about this. I was looking through some of uncle's paperwork today - and out fell a photograph which said 'greeting from Crabbet stud' to Mrs Scott. My mum is convinced she has spoken to Mrs Scott about Lady Wentworth, but whether or not she knew her I don't know. I can remember the traumas and the highs - the day Crystal Dew died foaling and when Golden Domino won some award at the AHS show and was exported to Texas. Its a shame I want to find out now when they are both long gone to a better place!

never too late , I used to ride an Arabian mare back in the 50's at the time when the Crabbet stud was disbanded and the same year lady Wentworth died, with the help of the good people here on a/lines we managed to trace one of her descendants alive today, I will try and find the link to the thread later

Another thing to try is a search on google, sometimes add the name scott or the mare velutina, and see what comes up. I thought the name Wasel Gerwazy sounded Polish, and a google search found him on Allbreedpedigree. His sire Gerwazy was born in Poland from some very fine blood imported in 1960 by Patricia Lindsay. The dam of Wasel Gerwazy was Velutina.
ALlbreedpedigree shows Wasel Gerwazy produced around 40 pure bred and part bred offspring, so you may find many descendents if you trace their off-spring.

It's so nice to know that great things come from Bletchley - Arabs

Enjoy your searching!

edited to add - just found a link to Old Harts Farm and in the pedigree of a Palomino - Tempest Trojan Warrior - there is an AHS Premium stallion called Hanem who was by Wasel Gerwazy. This is the link to the page (hope this is ok for AL)

Tee hee! Take your point about Bletchley. Can you believe that the Old Farm Stud is now smack underneath Milton Keynes Central railway station... I doubt if the people waiting for the 8.00 to Euston would believe what went on where they were standing. I've got some wonderful pictures of the arabs if I could only work out how to post them on the site - I might have to get my son onto it!

Welcome to AL, it sounds like you've got a treasure chest waiting to be opened ! You could try contacting the Crabbet Organization for further help.

Lynda, I've just read your old thread, I don't know if you managed to get any further but I had a quick look in the 1979 stud directory and a Mr & Mrs D.C. Glass owned Symphony and Solanda at that time, I know this is a very, very long shot but their address was Islington Farm, Wells, Somerset,

Hi there - thank you, I know Mrs Scott would be so thrilled that her horses still were being appreciated, she absolutely loved them like they were her children. The first picture is Crystal Dew, the second is Crystal Dew with Golden Domino at foot, the 3rd is Golden Domino in Texas. The fourth is I think Indian Gold (not one of Mrs Scotts), 5th picture again not one of Mrs Scott's but a horse called Shades of Night with two foals, last picture is Mrs Scott's mare, Velutina. Thank you so much to Lynda for putting them on for me.
