Couldn't possibly do that on a public forum Pinkyboots
Loved the entertainment on Saturday night jasjmm.... Mario was a very worthy winner
Thinking about it Pinkyboots, what I can say is this..... I didn't like the 'entertainment' in the collecting ring on Sunday afternoon
Those that are 'in the know' will agree that H & H is laughable this week...... The reporter obviously doesn't know the real story |

Can we please return to the original positive tone of this topic? How the Arab has had good publicity in Horse and Hound this week.
Any other complaints people want to make about other incidents at Towerlands are not for this thread. If you want to email each other privately about things you KNOW are not acceptable on this forum, then please either swap email addresses and use those or PM each other and do it away from this forum. |

Seems like a case of H&H being damned if they do, and damned if they don't...!

THIS IS TO DO WITH THE H&H ARTICLE!!!!!!!!
Why should we talk only about the positive and NOT the NEGATIVE????? Perhaps I should start a negative topic? Oh sorry I can't as that will be deleted
As usual we are not allowed to air our viwes on here even WITHOUT NAMING NAMES. I am sure you would have a different view if you owned the horse concerned!!
I totally give up with this forum....... Wonder how long it will be before this post gets deleted???

Angel, it would probably have been better received if you had simply given the outline of the incident in question that you felt should have been reported. That could have been done without naming names. The way you have presented it comes over as somewhat inflammatory rather than as a genuine concern about (what I presume is) a welfare issue.
If it IS a welfare issue, then why don't you contact H&H directly if you feel so strongly about their omission? Not even reporters can be everywhere all of the time (though I did notice a snippet in a sidebar to the article on attempts made to control the amount of outside interference in the collecting ring), and it may be that the reporter was simply *not aware* of what went on.

Mandy, we try to be reasonable, really we do. BUT.... there are so many legalities, especially the web, and we walk a very fine line daily.
It is plain to see you are upset about something, but the road to go down, was surely at the time of the incident/s you are obviously referring too. There should be a procedure in place at every show to deal with any complaints or evidence of something not acceptable.
I know you are very passionate about the arabian horse and welfare in general, BUT... we have to be careful how we express ourselves on the world web. Surely we can all do this, for our, and the arabian horses sake.
No offence whatever is meant, I am just trying to explain the other side of things regarding this particular forum, and why some posts are edited, locked or moved.
Mandy, I trust this reply will be accepted and understood in the way it was intended, and for this I thank you.

Inflammatory????? Oh please!!!!! And this isn't about a bit of bag waving and whooping!!!!!
The more people that know the names of these handlers the more chance we have of getting people to stop using them. They need hitting in their pockets not a slapped wrist from ECAHO or AHS after a complaint is made!!
Another observation. I saw plenty of handlers & their associates IGNORING the DC's in the collecting ring be interested to hear if any cards were shown?
Other than this incident I actually had a great time at Towerlands, so there is the positive!!
Do you know what, I really can't be bothered anymore.....I hope this handler continues with their bad behaviour and it happens to be your horses they are shanking and whipping, because next time I for one won't bother telling anyone what was witnessed and photographed....... I shall just look after the welfare of my own horses in future. |

Absolutely agree angel. I find it very frustrating that certain behaviour is ignored at shows. And lets face it, if the behaviour at shows is anything to go by, god only knows what happens at home. I can understand the whole libel thing... but what if someone was to post photos, or video evidence. Bit like the lovely Linda Parelli....we are all happy to comment on those vid's... Would that be more acceptable? Please note, I am not being funny, this is a genuine enquiry. |

That's the whole point Debs. If YouTube wants to, and has the money, to go head-to-head with the person who posted the Linda Parelli video, that's their privilege.
It is not fair for Paula to have to bear the legal problems and costs of members who have been accepted by the site, slandering others and accusing them of cruelty.
If there were cruelty issues at Towerlands it is not for AL to deal with, judge or allow its members to have a kangaroo court decide. It is for those who witnessed them to use the avenues made available in the rules of the show. Complaints to ECAHO would be in order.
It does this site no good at all, or the reputation of the Arabian breed, for someone who has a grudge against a handler or is against the flouting of show rules, to use this site to air their accusations.
Is this position too hard to accept? |

AFAIK, there is nothing to stop people posting video or photos to other sites and providing links, as is done with the Parelli videos.
HOWEVER, the best recourse is to complain to the due authorities at the time, and IF you do not feel any confidence in their response, there is nothing to stop you reporting to a pro-active equine welfare body such as HAPPA.

Roseanne, who the hell are you to accuse me of being someone who has a grudge against a handler or is against the flouting of show rules, and using this site to air my accusations. I am not slandering anyone or accusing them of cruelty, we have the PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF so get your facts right before you start having a pop at me!!
After reading your post I am beginning to wonder if you are a client or friend of said handlers family.....
Further more your comments do not warrent me wasting anymore of my time in replying to them......... |

i feel i should bring the attention of a sticky post at the top of the Al Discussion from the UKIAHS. it very clearly states that if you see something complain at the show not after on the internet. If you see something you dont like go and see the DC's. There are names for people that do it behind a computer screen. another fact we all have horses because we love them. why in the arabian industry are there people out there who are content in trying to destroy peoples love. in the current economic climate we should be pulling together as every good bit of press is good for the arabian horse. the negative reports are the ones that get dragged back up again and again. We have to welcome new people and invest in the youth as otherwise the arabian horse in the UK will struggle to grow and improve. there are enough shows in the show calender, go to the shows you know you will enjoy, if you go to a show with a negative attitude and know you are not going to enjoy it DONT go. Angel this is a direct quote from you ' If people have nothing nice to say then they should say nothing at all!!!!!
i am at risk of repeating myself but grow a pair and say something at the show in the future. chris |

I'm unable to resist the temptation .....
Actually Roseanne, Angel does have a point; the only actual accusation made so far is that you seem to accuse her of having a 'grudge against a handler'.
If she wants to express her disapproval (or whatever the word is) then I think she should be allowed to do so.
If we all thought the same and just wanted to talk about flower arranging and kittens, I don't see the point of a forum; or, to give its full name 'discussion forum' |

Pop - and Angel - can I retract the word 'grudge'? That does imply that the person has done something to Angel and is not the correct use of the word. If it offends, I apologise.
What I should have said was - 'if someone has a complaint about a handler's behaviour'.
As I have said to others, it's fine for topics, issues, concerns etc to be discussed and chewed over on AL - we've all aired our views fairly vociferously and at length in the past. We just have to stop short of getting the site either a reputation for being somewhere people 'let fly' without restraint, or worse, that attracts legal action we cannot afford, from people who feel their professional reputation is being denigrated (whatever people's views on that individual's actual work!).

Hi Roseanne, there is no need to apologise to me, but to Angel, i think you should, and to be honest and without wishing to sound hostile, I think you should just say 'I apologise' not 'If it offends, I apologise'.
And, if it is of use or interest to you; I was singularly uninterested in who and what the pictures were of and the comments about, until there was a swooping of Moderator interest and comment (with Moderator hats on).
Angel made it very clear that, (and for the reasons you mention which clearly she is already aware) she would not reveal 'identities' on a public forum.
The efforts to shut her up has me intrigued enough to try to find out what she means, which I suspect is exactly what you were trying to avoid.
Mr Lowe "grow a pair"???????? - I don't know Angel, but I suspect she has a pair; I cringed when I read that.
