which brands do you all use? i used to have lots of bits of cob and pony bridles put together, which looked rubbish so took the plunge and got a stubben in cob which fit and now has stretched so wont fit even on the last hole and looks awful. pony is too tight and cob you just know wont last forever once its stretched

It is difficult to get good quality, fine leather bridles nowadays; Kharidian's leather bridle was given to me second-hand, it is a cob-sized "show pony" bridle (if that's not a contradiction in terms)! I paid a saddler to have the cheek pieces shortened, and I also put a larger, plain browband on and it looks fabulous - however for day-to-day wear I have a 1/2 inch synthetic bridle made in a traditional style by a company that specialises in endurance bridles and therefore knows what fits an Arab (pm me if you want the details, as I don't think we're supposed to advertise without a reciprocal link).
There have been other threads on bridles for Arabs - the concensus is usually to "mix & match" with cob-sized head piece and noseband, full-sized browband and pony-sized cheek pieces.

Pasha has an Elevator and a Passier (Double) in Cob - both fit him beautifully! Shesk has the Albion KB in Full Size - perfect fit, although the throat latch is on the second to last hole so could have doen with being a bit smaller... in fact the only bridle that i've brought that didn't fit was in Arab size lol!  |

| Hi, i had mine made to measure by the local saddler, it cost me about £60 and obviously fits perfectly, your local saddler should be able to give you the standard measurements for everything so you can measure your horse and buy the correct size of everything, from memory my girl has a pony nose band with cob length straps, pony cheeks, full head with cob length straps, and a full browband. I also have a show bridle from derby house which is lovely and they mixed and matched the bits for me so it matches perfectly, that one was about £80. It has not stretched and still looks like new, i think it was their own make. |

cob size GFS - fits nicely just had to do away with the rubber reins.
mixture of pony and cob jeffries show bridle - worked out very expensive. |

I asked a similar question a while ago and a lot of answers came back with getting separates from Sabre. Having looked at them in the shops they look great and that is what I have on my shopping list for next year, although I also liked the Elevator.

| i have a sabre cob size bridle and full browband for my mare, which is fab. It tels you to only use neatsfood oil otherwise it will stretch the leather! |

gossy do you use that for everyday riding in?
i do only use neatsfoot oil on my leather im very disappointed its stretched so much :(
the sabres look nice but are super expensive |

Don't know if it would be of any use, but I just bought a Libby's reflective webbing bridle for everyday use from their ebay sale - £12 complete, and though it is supposed to be a full size, it fits my delicate-headed boy to a T! The reins are massively long, so I've had to put a couple of knots in 'em, but at the price, who cares

and MinHe thanks for the tip but I was really after a leather one.plus even if he is turned out in a non leather headcollar he comes in with baldy rubbed bits so i dont know whether it would suit rub-wise! |

| I have a jeffries bridle and a sabre bridle (both with the flat cavesson nosebands) for my lad and girl and both are cob size. They have lasted years and are still in very good condition, although i do make sure they get a regular cleaning with jeffries leathercare. |
