A month or so ago I was invited to join a website that lots of my online "friends" were members of too, so I joined.
This site prides itself (apparently) in freedom of speech, limited moderation, openess, transparency etc etc.
This site benefitted from a sudden influx to its member base from another site that was moderated not to everyones liking.
Anyway I was enjoying lurking, browsing, as you do and then I tried to log in.....said I was banned from the forum, I contacted the Admin who asked me to try logging in again, I did and it was fine. I got the message I was banned on 3 occassions over a few weeks but everytime I contacted the Admin to ask why I was then able to log in as normal......
But then I recieve an e.mail from Admin to say because I had upset or as they put it been part of a personal attack towards someone on another unrelated site,some time ago, that I was banned from this new forum!!!
Now I am a member on a few sites.....BUT if I upset someone say on H&H could I be expected to be banned from here?
The thing is we will never all see eye to eye, there are times when people will argue and fall out (as can actually be seen today on the site I am banned from).
Dont get me wrong Im really not bothered about the ban.....what bothers me is hypocrisy.
To leave en mass from one site because you dont agree with moderation to then go into moderating your own forum only to turn into some power crazed button presser and start to ban individuals because they are not friends with your friends or may at one time or another disagreed with your friends opinion..........or for god forbid having an opinion that differs from others, how old are some of us?.
Cant some people see just how ridiculous they make themselves look.
I think a lesson for all here is the grass is not always greener....or actually even grass

I have also been banned from another site, probably the one you have also been banned from. I was banned for asking them to stick to a topic instead of making negative references (I shall leave it at that).
Contrary to what was stated on another site I did not leave I was banned. All my posts were deleted by them and not myself. They then announced that I had left of my own free will, as I said before this is not true.
Hypocrisy.

Yes I think it probably was the same site....perhaps also a timely reminder that anything published there/here/anywhere and in chat rooms can be copied/pasted elsewhere |

On a recently deleted post on this site - it was strongly suggested by the majority - That everyone just move on! Now Mandy you mention hypocrisy - just because you were asked to leave said site - is there any call for you posting this on here it smacks of double standards. Many members on the other site are members on this site still - and do post - just because people have a difference of opinion it does not mean that they have the right to disrupt the enjoyment of others. We dont report or start topics concerning Arab Lines on that site - and in my opinion I think it very petty of you to do this here. I am all for freedom of speech but reporting back on what happens there on here is not going to serve any purpose other than to inflame members to defend themselves and turn this thread into a battleground which will result in it being deleted.

When I read Mandy's post I think the point she is making is that no-one expects to be banned from any site, just because they are not friends with certain people.

Hypocrisy....yes I think so.
I dont have double standards, am not atempting to disrupt anyones enjoyment, I have seen topics raised about AL on other sites, and yes on the other site.
MY question was......if I upset anyone on H&H forum would I be expected to be banned from here??? I think not.
You, I suggest are being inflamatory with your reply.
As I said no one named, in the spirit of this grown up forum.
I think you will find that your moderators are pretty much going to practice harsh penalties towards anyone who does not agree with the majority.....but HEY you can all come back when you get banned, cause lets face it we cant always agree.
Oh and no, definately no sour grapes....
Sorry forgot to say thanks for all the e.mails amd PM`s....dont worry I understand why you feel you cannot comment publicly, how sad, but thanks anyway its nice to know there are like minded people. |

I really wanted to help and was asked to do so, but failed to keep me gob shut
Poor Montoya got deleted, what has he ever done to anyone? children and cripples will be next, all queing up for a space on the naughty step.
I think it is a case of too many Chiefs and not enough Indians.

Welcome Sue....Ive budged up, there is room for a little un.
I had heard you had lost your Karma and been shown the door, but to delete Montoya from the stallion page is just so childish.
I too like everyone to get along.....or as along as we can with all our different views etc.
Perhaps being outspoken is considered too taxing for some to deal with.
Shove some pics of Montoya on here instead....

Mandy I will not fight on open forum - yes I make no bones about the fact that i have a connection with the other site - I am a moderator chosen because I try to see both sides to every story - I am hotheaded I am opinionated and I can stand my corner in a debate - I was not the person who barred you from the site - I was not involved in any disagreement that you may have had with other members or a member as we all know what this is about. I dont take sides, I dont judge people I dont know and believe me I might have an opinion but I have not judged you (If anyone would like to cut and paste anything I have said about Mandy/Bridie here I wil back down and appologise) the point of my post Mandy maybe I didnt word it correctly was as I said to Rui yesterday - paraphrasing this bit - there is plenty of room in the world for all sites to exist - people fall out I appreciate that I am not posting to be derogratory or inflamatory to any member of either this or the other site! I appologise for having an opinion but I do think that by posting this thread you are looking to inflame old wounds that should now be healed - we are all human beings and as such we have one ability communication- be it verbal or non-verbal (we have email, telephone, letter or pm) - some old wounds cant be healed - there are people in this world that I have a serious dislike for and would gladly never speak to again and thankfully I move in different circles to them now so dont have to! My point of posting - and I again appologise if anyone took my post as inflamatory - was simply to say What happens on AOBG should stay on AOBG - what happens on Arabian Lines should stay on Arabian Lines -yes people might talk - but there is no need for members of either or both sites to post things abot the other. IMO.
However Mandy there is one thing that I have to draw your attention too - there are still members on the other site who remained blocked or barred from this site - maybe that is an admin error maybe not (That is not a pop admin) so your comment about barred members re-joining is wrong.
