Ok, my trusty leather boots have finaly given up the ghost

So off I toddle to the tack shop to buy some new ones... but Ooh no... apparently everyone who wants to wear leather boots has long tall slim leggies !!!

Now I'm not a bigger girl ( size 12) but I DO do an awful lot of walking so I have muscely calves and I'm only 5'4

and not ONE single pair of boots fitted !! I tried everything from mountain horse to mark todd to koing !! ALL were to long in the leg!

I've managed to find some brogini ones that can be made to measure for an amazing £150.00 but they take 6-8 weeks!!!

Has anyone any ideas of a pair of boots that are short / wide and elegant that I can buy off the shelf ???

HELP!

I always thought that if I had to get long riding boots I would check out the Equitector boots as they seem to have a wide range of leg fittings.

there are some makes of the zipup ones that have an elastic gutter alongside zip so you should get a nice fit

Grafton have all their measurements on their website so you can work out which ones will fit. No so many stockists though but I e-mailed them and they got back to me about stockists within 1 working day.

Have exactly the same problem Ended up buying a pair of Equitector that fits well and look good. They're ok but I can't say I love them as they're a bit too wide around the ankles for my liking so if I walk too much in them I get terrible blisters. Apparently I have very fat calves and very thin ankles so it's hard to find something that fits snugly around the ankle but yet wide enough over the calves... Anyway, paid something like £120 I think for the boots and they will do me for the little dressage/showing I do.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with big calves and small ankles. I bought regent oakleys with zip up back in wide and they are great but have just died !! Finally found some lovely mark todd ones with elastic insert and shaped top but they fit brilliantly and got them for £110 on equestrian clearance . they will alway come up behind the knee to start with but will drop by about half to threequarters of an inch pretty quick so just make sure you dont get them and then they drop too short !

Good luck

I've got the ariat bromonts in the regular calf, they fit really well and are immensely comfy! didn't originally want to go for the 'field boot' style of them but fit came first and they were the best I could find. I'm a size 8 with muscley calves so the wides may be around a 12?
