Although this is my first time to post an AL i gave been following the site with great interest for the past few weeks.
I now, however, have a question of my own...

I have a 2yr old PBA with whom i would like to do some showing. I have never shown in my life so will only be looking at local shows. I feel it will do him good to gather some experience of the outside world and of course i think he is gorgeous!!

My questions are
1, What classes do we enter?
2, How do i turn him out?
3, what should i wear myself?
4, Will he be expected to wear a bit even if not led from it?

Sorry if i appear ignorant but never taken an interest in showing before, that is until i got the Arab bug!

Hi.....If you post a pic of your PBA...can better advise the type of classes suitable to exhibit in

Below is a youngster which will give you an idea of your dress and also the turnout, bridling etc of your Part Bred Arab

Above is a PBA 3yr old. Dam: Welsh `D` cob. Sire: Anglo Arab

Hope the above gives you an idea of turnout for horse and handler

Yes, must wear a bit, but lead rein need not be attached to the bit rings..can be attached to the noseband or with a bit coupling if your youngster is strong. It looks better if the Handlers cloths
colour co-ordinate with the horses colour. ie. chestnut...browns and fawn etc. Leather gloves, show cane. Hat, without chinstrap etc.
( a beagler hat) Horse,In Hand Show Bridle, Leather Lead Rein, pretty velvet browband for PBA classes. Must be plaited, tail pulled and levelled at the dottom

Hope this is helpful

Well, that took me by surprise, Babs! April certainly looked fabulous that day - that was our first championship together, Part-bred Welsh at Shrewsbury, photo by Real Time Imaging. (I spent all my birthday money on those photos!) Happy days!

3mma1, April, or Aldwych Arabesque (Sunray Scelebrity/Llanarth Rosetta) came to me from Babs when she was almost 2 and stayed until she was 5 when, unfortunately, the pressures of a full-time job some distance from home and keeping two horses ridden caused me to part with her. I showed her successfully in part-bred Arab, part-bred Welsh, hunter pony breeding, hack and riding horse classes, the only difference in turnout being a plain leather browband for HPB. She matured at 15hh. I would suggest you try any classes for which you are eligible and see how you get on - I bought April specifically for PBA classes but she also qualified for RIHS as a hack and NPS and NCPA championships in HPB and PBW, later going on to be successful in BSPS ridden classes with her next two owners. You also have the Sport Horse classes now (or pony - you don't say how big your boy is). Best of luck and, as Babs says, we need photos!

Babs, I have been meaning to contact April's owners for ages and never got round to it. Same thing with Carly - I meant to contact her last year after you posted those results for her. I must make the effort; life is too short and I don't know where the years have gone. I often think about April - what a little star she was! I will let you know if I have any news of her.

Driving - who would have thought it? We got the idea when some friends decided to break an outgrown Section A to harness and it proved to be quite addictive!
