Hi, i am looking to trace information on my horses previous owners.

The horse in question is passported as GERONIMO, he is a 16.2 Chestnut Gelding. Was known as JJ but person i bought him from named him Jasper.

Sire: Indian Banner Dam: Cassandra.

His Dam was covered in the UK and then travelled to France. She gave birth to Geronimo in Plougeanevel France in August 1999 and he travelled back to the UK beside his mum in 2000/2001.

I know that the lady who owned his Dam was Christine Barkhouse, Jasper was then owned by Michelle Sharp at Sorrelcourt Stud in Pollington Yorks, she broke him in and then sold him in 2003/4?? to a girl who stayed near Doncaster.

I do not know the girls name but Michelle said the girl was going to do her AI and wanted a horse to take to college with her and they lost touch.

It is his history between 2004 and 2006/7 that i would love to find out about.

I bought him in Sept 2008 from a girl in Jedburgh, Borders, she says she had him for 2yrs and purchased him in England but she cant remember the previous owners details or where she got him.... she thinks that the person she bought him from co-owned him with another lady and they shared him and it hadn't worked out, but i have no idea how much truth is in that.

I would also love to find a previous owner that could clarify / release his registration for me, he has an AHS passport and the AHS has confirmed he is registered but no certificate came with him, the prior owner knew nothing about "registered" breeds.

Also although his passport has been completed for vaccinations it has never been filled in by any previous owners, hence i am looking for information on them... I find it strange that nobody has ever completed this part of his passport...

If anyone knows him please get in touch with me

ummm
as the arab horse society has confirmed he is registered l would start by writing to the last registered owner
if you send a letter to the arab horse society they will pass it on
even if his papers are lost if the last registered owner requests duplicate l think they could be reissued
good luck

Welcome Kazjaz. I can't help you at all I'm afraid, but I wonder if you could put something on the discussion section as he has been imported from France and is by a stallion that's been kind of 'rediscovered' lately. He is featured well in the current Crabbet Magazine and there is a thread about that new edition on the discussion section. It seems limited forum members come onto these 'tracing horses' threads and with your horse's background I bet there is someone who knows about him. It's just reaching the right audience!

Hi

thanks to you both for your suggestions, i will repost in discussion section.

Ash, I will contact the AHS again and ask if they could pass on a letter, I just hope that the person still stays at the same address as when he was registered! They did confirm for a fee of £40 they would send me a copy of the registration certificate which would then enable me to track them down, once released there would be further fees to change ownership etc which at this time of year i just cant justify the costs, i would rather spend the money on feeding, shoes, the dentist etc...

that's the standard cost of replacement papers l'm afraid...that's why you need to hang onto them like grim death

it sounds as though this can be sorted out fairly easily if they are offering you copies...

the last registered owner has the right to request the copies as the originals are lost...you may be lucky and they might still even have them...then you just have the change of ownership fees

but l know what you mean it all adds up...and this time of year with the recession money is in short supply
