I have recently lost one of my beloved Ragdoll cats (2nd cat in my sig pic) to a horrible heart condition HCM. He was only 3 years old! He was an extremely friendly cat and loved being hugged and was always in your face. In fact I used to call him my huggy bear as he always wrapped his paws round your arm when you cuddled him like a baby. He looked up at you with his huge blue eyes and purred so loudly it makes me smile just thinking about him.

Some friends have said I should just keep my other cat on his own for a while, but I cant help feeling sorry for him and that he should have a feline friend to keep him company.

Anyway.... I have been looking at other Ragdolls and Birmans (I had 2 for many years when I lived at home)... and think I may have found one. She is a lilac tabby birman and looks so sweet...

Am I being mad, or should I go for it???

Go for it - you know in your heart when the time is right, and if a cat has chosen you what choice do you have!? Left my cat on her own for a year after losing her brother, but she settled in quickly with the two new ones and now contemplating more.

Go for it, as long as you're sure your other cat will be OK with a kitten. Sorry you lost your boy though, that's far too young to lose one

So sorry to hear about your huggy bear....How awful to lose him so young.

Re getting another one - One way of looking at it is if your other cat is used to feline company then getting another cat could be a good idea and perhaps the sooner the better, so that he doesn't get used to being the only cat?

They are a beautiful breed.

I would love a cat but my terrier would love it more

Well I just thought I would let you all know, things certainly DO happen for a reason.

I went on Saturday as arrange to look at the little Birman I had seen. For some reason (and I am not sure why) something just didnt seem to gell with me when I saw her... Dont get me wrong, she was really beautiful, but "it" just didnt happen! The lady did have 2 little male kittens who were 3 weeks younger than the one I went to see, and they were far bigger, fluffier and seemed alot more loving than the little girl.

So I decided again it...... then, yesterday, whilst my OH was strimming the grass on our lane, I had a walk up to see him and he said "look over there"... sat on the wall was a tiny little black kitten!

She is only about 8 weeks old, but is SOOOO cute, loving, cuddly and is getting on so well with Teddy my other cat and the dog! I know things happen for a reason, but just cant believe it when I see her. I cant believe someone would just dump a kitten so young. Thank goodness Craig saw her, or I cant even begin to think what would have happened!

(vet appoinment going to be arranged to check if she is chipped, but I doubt it)

.... will post some pics when I download some

I beleive cats get sent to you aswell.

Last new year my Dad died and I already have one cat in my signature,
anyway, this white cat arrived in my garden and was quite friendly but a bit ragged so just ignored it thinking it belonged to someone else, how wrong!!! This cat decided it was staying put and moved in,
much to Gerry's (my cat) annoyance. My Mum who lived near Lytham St.Annes came to stay on a regular basis and when she came Snowy the *New* cat befriended my Mum.

Anyway, last year she decided to move to Cheshire near me because she was on her own up in Lytham and guess what!!! Yes, she is the new owner of Snowy, he is such a lovingly little cat and keeps her company now and she loves him to death.

So, I think Snowy was sent, I dont know who from but he was definately sent here to keep my Mum company.

Picture of Snowy, sorry he had runny eyes at the time but is sorted now thanks to his new Mum

btw, was meant to put we had him for months at our house and advertised that we had found him and no one came forward for him, just our next door neighbour said he thought someone had owned him around the back and moved away and left him. How bloody cruel!!!

At least he has a lovely home now anyway, and yes I know, the old cliquey white cat = Snowy

Oh, how true, cats find you. I just didn't expect so many to find me in such a short space of time. Following losing one of ours in a RTA just after Christmas, I contacted the rescue centres. Within days of each other, Bonnie and Trixie demanded to come and live with me. Home checks went so well that one of the centres has since begged me to take Tallulah (see story below) and Kora the kitten comes too (see story below). The cat hotel is now full!!!

Bonnie - turned in because her owners are expecting a baby. What did they think she was going to do? Eat the bl**dy thing? Their loss, my gain!

Trixie - stray, unknown background but so, so friendly. My gain again!

Tallulah - stray, heavily pregnant. Had delivery problems and had to have a caesarian. Lost all 5 kittens. Kora, found in a lorry park at a utility site on the same day, only a few hours old. Given to Tallulah. She accepted her and I accepted them both. My gain again!

Have told the centres that I am NOT a soft touch so, no more!

Pintoarabian,
Great stories and wonderful photographs!

Goldenmane, with you it's tabbies but with me it's tortie & whites! I have 6 cats presently including the two tortie/white girls I've taken in as strays over time who are both bossy and self-assured - I'm definitely here to serve them both!

Gossy,
Good plan!
