Yes, it was my youngster. He broke his bridle getting into the trailer - we would have had him back in control in under 10 minutes if it hadn't been for the stupid ***** who whipped him in the face and screamed at him just as my OH had got a rope on him. Said stupid ***** continued to scream at him and hit him in the face whenever we stood a chance of getting anywhere near him, so not surprisingly he went loopy. Thanks to a sensible HORSEMAN we did catch him (and by God, did this episode sort out the horsemen, like Ian Woodward- who were unfailing helpful - from the mere horse owners, who did nothing constructive and indeed made the situation worse in many respects by NOT boxing their horses when we asked them to), and as far as I know no-one was injured apart from my OH who was hit in the face and lost a tooth when the silly ******* scared our boy out of his grasp.

I apologised to one of the people I know was definitely affected - he was a pro showjumper and accepted my apologies with very good grace. However, we felt it was best to get the offender home as soon as possible, so we left immediately. (Needless to say, by the time we got back, he was as quiet as a dead donkey, the little sod, which is his normal mode of behaviour on his home turf).

I would like to apologise to anyone else who was affected, and to thank Ian - and the gentleman (Rob) who caught our loony - for their help in resolving an incident which was as upsetting for us as it was for everyone else.

Keren

(I have to say that I was surprised by the number of horses left tied and unattended by lorries, as I would have thought this was an accident waiting to happen even if *no* idiot youngster got loose!)
