According to AllBreeds your mare has 3 full siblings.
MHS Amir El Sudan(grey gelding foaled in 2000), MHS Jasur Rafique (a stallion foaled in 1999) and Summers Place Winter Magic (a mare foaled in 2002)

Heres a pic of your mares sire Ibn Sudan

Hi there

I have recently bought an Ibn Sudan gelding - Ibn Sensation. He was originally on this site for sale as Rio Danny. See post re: Ibn Sudan x Divine Sensation.

Your mare is straight Egyptian. Her sire and dam were both owned by Pat Westwood at one time. Ibn Sudan raced for a few years but as far as I am aware was never placed although he was always sound! He was quite a big horse although not my cup of tea. BA Amira Daleeha was a really beatiful mare, about 15 1"; she was an American import (the Maxwell's had her before Pat Westwood). I was interested in buying her when she was for sale but she was too expensive for me and as she was stitched and I work full time I was a bit worried in case she foaled early and I wasn't there. I was very taken with her. At that time there weren't that many nice SE mares in UK and she was just lovely with a really nice nature. If your mare is anything like Amira you are very fortunate to have her. How is Amira bred; it is a long time ago now and I can't remember her pedigree?

Have looked up Allbreeds now. I am sure BA Amira Daleeha will no longer be alive as it is many years since I saw her and I think she was about twelve then so she would be at least in her late 20s. I would love to see a photo of her, her dam was just lovely. I still remember her well.

We had Sundan on loan here for his final months, sadly his heart failed and we lost him a year ago in February. He was a sweetie, about 15hh, and very clever, we rode him until we found out about his heart and he was a super ride, fast and fun. He also had a few clever little tricks
Despite only having him for months we all miss him a ridiculous amount as he was such a character...really wormed his way into everyone's hearts!
These are the last photos I got of him:

He looks really well and happy, sorry to hear you lost him. He had a nice temperament and quite a few homes during his life. He was originally with Ton Hutchins and then was on loan to somone near here before he was sold. The next time I saw him was during his racing days and I then saw him again quite a few years later when I went to see BA Ameera Daleeha when Pat Westwood said he would stay there for life. Don't know what happened as I then saw him up for sale and never heard of him again. I am glad he had a good home for his last few months.

Hi Emma, So glad to hear that Minty is well, we owned her for a while after buying her from Pat Westwood, and sold her, then lost contact. I would be really intrested to know how you get on with her. She was always a real sweetheart.

Barbara - from what I know he had a lot of homes and was sold on many times Judi, who owned him, let him come live out his days here, we hoped he would be with us for years but sadly it wasn't to be, and we were gutted to never get a foal by him

I saw some of his offspring at Pat Westwood's and she had a couple of nice fillies when I was there. It is a shame when horses "do the rounds" but he was a lucky boy to end up with you. When he was in racing he always looked rather rangy (and a tad thin) and had an upside down neck due to a high head carriage but he looked a lot better when I saw him at Pat's as he had put on some weight.

I was with Pat Westwood when she bought both Ibn Sudan and BA Amira Daleeha. He came from a Stud (I forget the owners name) in Kent and she was bought at the Maxwell's Sale.
Daleeha will be 19 now and the last I heard of her she was owned by Joan Woodward, she was at their open day last year.

Wow, Emma, so pleased to hear what Minty has done for you as I am a straight Egyptian nut. Where do you live? I hope you will be able to make it to the Egyptian Event next year as your girl is SE. I picked up my new SE colt this morning and he is just gorgeous! It is always great to buy a horse a horse just because you like it and then find it is such a treasure; the icing on the cake.

The SEs seem to be so sensitive to their owners and have such a rapport with humans.

I am so pleased that you found each other.

thanks Barbara, i am beginning to realise how lucky i am! i have been looking for a "friend" for minty for months now,and its been a nightmare! when i saw minty for the first time, i knew straight away that she was going to be my horse and she chose me as much as i chose her! i dont seem to be able to get that feeling with another horse,is that strange?
i would love to know more about the egyptian event, where and when is it?
i live in dorset.

It is near Bristol and will be the middle weekend in September (think it is the 13/14th). No, not strange, you will know when you see the right horse for you. Might even be another straight Egyptian. If you ever come near Suffolk you are very welcome to come and see my horses, ,mostly SEs, I just love them; they are real "people" horses.

I don't come on to AL very often, but have just come across this thread and felt I had to respond.

I am the owner of MHS Amir El Sudan, one of Minty's full siblings. He is now 8 years old, but I bought him as a yearling from Pat Westwood.

Amir (Miri) is a lovely natured horse, can be quite clingy and insecure at times however - he needs a leader (whether horse or human) and once he decides he likes you, then he'll follow you everywhere (literally - except into a lorry or trailer!) However, he can be a real drama queen when he puts his mind to it - but only for the most pathetic of reasons (like trying to apply wound cream to the tiniest of cuts). He is tall (about 15'3). Confirmation wise - although he's got a lovely head, he's a little small in the eye. Someone above mentioned Sudan having a slightly upside down neck - well, that's also true of his son, although it's improved vastly over the years and with regular ridden work. Good broad back, good shoulder, good depth of girth. Extremely good hoof quality (he's barefoot) and never been lame. Narrow in the chest. Slightly camped under hind legs.

So he's got good and bad points, but he suits me and I don't plan on ever getting rid of him. I am hoping to do some Endurance with him (already do this with my Crabbet boy) but this hasn't got off the ground yet, until we can resolve Miri's loading problem! And you won't ever see him at shows, because I'm simply not into the showing thing.

I keep him in the Thames Valley Chilterns area, so Minty, if you are ever in the area and want to come and see him, then please let me know. Alternatively, PM me with your e-mail address and I can send you some photos.

Sam

Summers Place Winter Magic was bred by Mrs Judith Stafford-Charles (Summers Palce Stud near Exeter, Devon). She is a grey mare born in 2002. In an old show catalogue I have in 2005 she was owned by Mrs P Paton with a Devon address.
