Spent a mammouth amount of time Thursday night after work loading clothes, bedding, hay etc into the lorry. Thankfully my pony had been ridden as i had received a call earlier from my friend's daughter asking if she could ride him (her pony has been kicked and is lame at the moment). Thank heavens also for my boyf who turned up at the yard to help. Molly attached herself to him the second he arrived so that kept her from under my feet too!
Friday was a reasonable start time and when i dragged the pony in decided he didn't need a bath so just washed his legs tail and face, pliated up and set off. The journey down the A1 was hassle free, but i got very confused when i came off the A1 and spent a bit of time circling Arrived at the show ground a totally diffrent way to before and paid for my stablign and parked up with an hour to my in hand class. Pants had been kicking teh last 20 min of the journey and he came off still kicking. Whilst touchign up his feet i got kicked and so did teh pot of black. I resembled at appaloosa pony and Pants now has an ermine mark on his sock. I looked so bad my friend who was already there asked if Molly could show him in hand instead!!!! 
Anyway, i managed to scrub half the skin off my face and thus removed the spots and covered up the rest (hands and arms) with my show clothes Whizzed off to our ring (waited an age for teh judge to arrive) and Pants made it up to me with a super trot out. When i looked at the prof pics yesterday there was a lovely one with just one toe still on the floor and his ears forwards! Pulled in 7th out of 9 and after individual bits we were not loved up. Lovely stallions in 1st and 2nd. Asked the judge what she thought of him, and said he needed more muscle on his neck and back.
That was it for us on Friday so we then spent some time settling pony in to his stable and setting up camp alongside friends who were already there.
Saturday mornign (after a pot noodle for breakfast!!!) Molly did M&M cradle stakes and nursery stakes WHP. She wasn't clear in either class and unfortunatelt her pony was as dead as a doornail. Went into the show part in both sections and did a rubbish show in the cradlestakes, and a better one (though not as good as she'd done outside the ring) in the nurserystakes. She had to strip in both classes and tried really hard to stand him nicely and trot him out. 6th in cradlestakes out of 6 through to the show part and 7th (special rosette) in the nurserystakes. Molly really enjoyed herserlf.
Watched the PBA class - LOADS of entries. HAd to be split for the go round. Friend's daughter was pulled in quite high but out of the rosettes. The pure bred riddens only had a handful of entries though :( Wish i'd done the late qualfier with Comet.
Later on i was very proud as Molly and my friend rode off as a very well matched adult and child pair. Molster looks so grown up in a fake bun and a stock. Pants looked lovely all glittery and plaited and shiny. Waiting to go in there was a bit of excitement so Molly sobbed as she was scared and didn't want to do it (despite Pants being a model citizen). Bullied her into submission and i ran in next to her and once in the arena she was fine and i left her in Pam's capable hands. I was as proud as anything when they were pulled in 5th. I am an unfit mother and never take pictures but as everybody else did i'm sure there will be some available soon!
We were all VERY late to bed - Molly and her 12 yo freind were cantering about wearing reins doing a SHP class until about midnight. I went to bed and dreamt about cleveland bays doing in hand. The next morning Molly very unwilling to get up for the plaited WHP class. Wish i hadn't made her as Pants shoved his head down to graze as she trotted round the warmup and she fell off on her head, she was tired and grumpy, didn't want to go in the ring. I went in with her and she made a rubbish job of ridign her pony and was elminated at the 3rd fence. I ran up to it with her she sailed over and then we went out. I then gave her a stern talkign to and made her ride him round teh warm up and jump some more which she did very nicely. So frustrating. Grrr. Grumpy tired children.
Spent the next 6 hours meaning to go home and never getting round to it And Pants decided to roll in a non-existent space as i stood next to the stable "office" gettign back my deposit.
Molly loved the camping element and managed to avoid washing, showering and teeth cleaning for the entire weekend! She is gross.
Sorry, i did try to keep this brief and am sure i missed out lots!

Can't wait to meet everyone at BAHPAC. Sadly not staying over as less than an hour's drive for us (well Helen as she'll be bringign Comet in her lorry). Not sure if Molster will come and watch or if she'l stay home with Helen's OH and son. |
