Due to the fact we have 6 calves and 2 of them are bulls they took a great liking to chewing at my horses mane/tails, thankfully pba is pulled so would not know but the black bull calf chews like hell on tail hair so ive had enough and seperated them
The thing is the calves as soon as horses are in sight moo like hell at the gate that is now seperating them from the horses, they are behaving like a horse whos friend have seperated, thing is i cannot let them keep chewing the horses as thankfully she is pba my filly has a tail to hock height, they only ever hang around the chestnut and leave older mare well alone
Has anyone ever had this before, theese calves will chase humans in field too since been with the girls be it they are horses lol

While we are on the subject of cows, I'm selling a gelding for someone at present. Instead of winneying he moos like a cow it's very funny to hear and very endearing |

Just thought I would mention a good tail and mane chewing deterent is neat Fairy washing up liquid, it tastes digusting and yet will rinse out easily, not like the usual anti chew stuff. Some of our foals had a session of this bad habit late last summer, the washing up stuff realy worked well. |

Thank god im not the only one thats mare has a cow as a friend, though im not impressed she allows them to chew at her at least she aint mooing yet, well ive not heard her moo ha ha ha, the thing im amazed with is she will choose to leave the others and go with cows, gelding follows too though my older mare stops well out the way bless her, the older girl is rather a loner since preg and her hormones are all over, since preg she has pretty much kept out the way of the others |

do you literally put it on dry tail neat then leave it to work?, i used cribbox ect but that hasnt worked, the purebred will only go nr cows with filly and if they turn to him he gets out the way so they wont get him thank god |

I think I read something once that suggested putting curry powder on their tail. |

pashon that is funny moo and try tail eating own tail, bless her i bet she is sweet one too like a big soppy dog, its beyond me why she and cow wants to be together, she is only a 3yr filly and 3 month in foal, is hormones making her play mummy lol?, saying this mummy to a bull calf is something else esp when the big black calf sees you enter field and gets the lot charging you arghhhhhh, bel me im scared to death of the cows as mum had a full grown one here last yr that would steam out nostrils and min see you charge from a mile away, there was a black and white one who was here after crushing its owner up barn wall too and she would eye you up and bel me you need to get out the way, she would ram you headbutting car/trailer the lot like a raging bull, after that one i was terrified and il not go nr them, we dont have adults here just calves to help flooded owner, saying this our land isnt great but better than owners |
