Silver Shadow is now 4 and a chestnut roan colour. her mother is grey, father chestnut with strong grey lines. Will she turn grey or is it too late now? She is getting lighter but is still very much chestnut.

Hi there, is her head a solid colour ie.chesnut? if so she will stay chesnut with perhaps heavy "ticking" If she has white hairs on her head around eyes etc she is probably grey. Some horses take years to go "proper " grey.Hope this helps. jane |

She is very chestnut around her head, no grey apart from her white markings. She is flecked through with grey but this is not particularly heavy. She does, however, have a white streak up her under belly and a black splodge on her head just above her star.
Her dam was originally registered as chestnut but re-registered as grey when she was 10.
Her breeder seems convined she'll go grey. I'm not.

I hope she does as I think her colouring is quite unusual. I'll keep everyone updated as to which colour she finally decides to stay. Everything crossed for chestnut. |
