Hello,
Not been on here for ages but i wondered if anyone else has had problems with Ariat boots not doing what they proclaim to do, ie,keep feet dry. I ordered a pair of the Terrain pull-on H2o boots and they were comfy etc but when i was filling the water bucket my foot started to feel cold and wet. Sent them back and they replaced them with a pair that looked much darker and smelled more as though they'd been treated but lo and behold the glue is coming adrift again where leather meets sole!!!! These are discontinued now so another replacement might not be possible. Have they really gone to pot since being made in China? ? I love everything else about them

Yes some of the items wouldnt look out of place in a museum! I haven't used ebay because i always worry about how secure it is but i think theyve tightened up on things now. Plus it must be quite addictive :-)

Have you seen the prices they make though on ebay, and you're never quite sure of what you're getting, I'm still a novice on ebay. Shame boots don't come with their original manufactured date on them!

Yes that's why I'm often tempted to buy an ancient pair off eBay!

I've got some Ariat Grasmeres that are about ?10 years old. They are still waterproof - even the suede gusset up the side doesn't leak - yet! Also some Toggi knee high leather boots which must be 20 years old now - still going strong. My Mountain Horse "posh" top boots fell apart after ten years. Haven't bought any "proper" boots lately, and Mountain Horse lace up ankle boots still going since 2000, so very lucky! The old ones are the best ones!

Hello! My feet are thankfully still dry.....I had forgotten how smelly Ariats make your feet though I think the waterproof spray has helped although I haven't a clue what leather softenener to use as tey all say "Not suitable for nubuck".grrr

I've got the neoprene agile....best wellies I've ever owned, soooooo warm #128512;

Hunters are fashion boots...nothing more nowadays. My last ariat windmeres split and only lasted less than a year. Was really disappointed them.
Ive got aigle parcours iso for winter months....best things Ive bought. I suffer cold feet and Ive not suffered once this winter. So sturdy. I found mine on ebay 2nd hand but almost new. Ive got aigles without the insulation for summer months. Found them on ebay too.

I've had the Dublin neoprene lined wellingtons paid £60 and they split before the end of winter. I have given up on rubber boots and got long leather yard boots. So far well worth the money and will be cheaper in long run.

Thanks, Ari, I will see which ones they are. The Aigles do seem to be very good, don't know anyone who has had a problem but at £149.00! Couldn't bring myself to pay that for a pair of wellies (or any footwear come to that)! Aigle's are made in France not China so that may be why they are so much better.

Not sure about advertising but here goes Amazon
Goldenmane Posted - 27 May 2015 : 08:57:57 AM
I used to love my Toggi neoprene lined wellies and could walk miles in them. First pair lasted 5 years, second pair 2 years and this pair one year and have now cracked!! Just seen some reasonably priced Dublin something...?
Off to Google Aigle £48 as I don't know the well known site unless I'm given a clue?

Crikey-5 months for Hunters! The last two pairs I have been lucky to have a month -6 weeks at most before they leak.I thought the first ones were just a one off but after the next pair went the same, time to look for others.
Toggi are even worse they split around the heel and the foot seams within a couple of weeks.
Not sure where to go next am sticking to the leather yard boots right now.

Sadly most things horsey are made in China these days.....

I have a pair of H2O Arait Western boots.... they are 14 years old & still in fine fettle, still 100% waterproof... & they were made in China! I have just purchased a new pair of H2O Western boots... for best :D Will be very interested to see how they peform!
Ari Posted - 26 May 2015 : 7:48:24 PM
Barbara, don't want to advertise but the site we all know has Aigles at £48 postage free.
barbara.gregory Posted - 26 May 2015 : 2:30:09 PM
I think a lot of boots are not as good as they were now they are mase in China. The year before last I got some Aigle boots cheap and sold some to others for the price I paid + postage. They retail about £140 and I got them for £40 or £45 (got mine for £45 and then they went down to £40!) and they are brilliant. As far as I know they are all still fine and I have worn mine continually since I got them over 2 years ago.

Hunters are rubbish now as well, mine lasted 5 months before they leaked. I am hoping I will find some more Agile boots reduced as to date I have not heard any bad reports about them.

Hmm reading mixed views/opinions on various sites. A friend has had his zip up ankle ones for 6 months and they're already falling apart at the seams :-( I have heard that due to the toxic fumes produced by the glue used in shoe-making they have had to use a less strong adhesive; possibly due to the poor working environment in foreign factories who don't have the regulations we have. I bought a pair of boots from shoezone and they separated fro the sole too after a week!!
I asked in the saddlery if they'd had any returned and they said no,also saying that Ariats have always been made in China??!! (Don't think so). So,I have armed myself with Ariat waterproofer and sprayed boots liberally. How come I can feel it on THE INSIDE???!!!

I have the terrains too, love them for walking the dogs.. still waterproof and so comfy to ride/walk in.
garnet Posted - 24 May 2015 : 6:09:19 PM
Mine have all been OK but the newest ones must be at least 6 years old so maybe it is a case of newer ones being poorer quality.
Ari Posted - 24 May 2015 : 6:02:27 PM
There are some Ariat Tellurides that have been on the feet of people on our yard for years. Just getting mine out for 2nd summer no problems so far, just hope they are't made in China. They are fab and worth the money if they last, however if they are no longer good quality then £120 buys a lot of cheap and cheerful footware.
Even if yours are discontinued you should get refund as not fit for purpose.
FireLight Posted - 24 May 2015 : 3:27:24 PM
I have the Ariat short Terrain boots and they stay waterproof even after repeated soaking and not much after care. They are a few years old now so maybe the newer ones are of a lesser quality.
debs Posted - 24 May 2015 : 08:15:31 AM
Probably ...most other things have! Especially hunters! Although have bought 2 horse ware rugs that seem to be ok thankfully!
