Had dogs all my life but so much has changed with feeding, socializing and training since I last had a pup I am open to any tips, advice or experiences.

I have done all the common sense things, chosen breeder on recommendation not an advert, made sure parents are health screened, seen dogs from previous litters, visited pups with their lovely mum from week 1 and now it's only a week away to Dolly coming home.

She will be going to socialization and training classes from 12 weeks and have a great mentor in my wonderful Dexter.

It's a huge responsibility that I take very seriously so any advice is helpful

Well done Dolly

Today we went to local Riding for Disabled fun dog show so win win for us. Support a great charity and socialise pup with lovely dogs and like minded very friendly people. Did the puppy class just to test Dolly's focus on me in an exiting new environment. She was a star and did all I asked; wish I said to judge before this is training for us and she may do well but I am happy last as it's not about winning. She was best pup and all credit to her

Awww, makes me go all broody; long time since I had a dog as my work hours didn't allow! Lovely dogs and very lucky to have good homes.

I have a thing about rabbits, no longer cuddly and nice they dig b****y big holes that give me nightmares with horses legs involved.
sab2 Posted - 06 Jun 2015 : 6:17:12 PM
Bless her i didn,t watch it as was doing battle with the mole hills on the lawn that and the b****y rabbits digging holes the air was blue

Bit of a learning curve today for Dolly. It's the first time since I got her that I have cheered and screamed as Frankie and Golden Horn won the Derby. Uncle Dex is used to my sporting exuberance over the years, she was a tad confused but soon got into the spirit.

Never thought; when Nancy is out in the future she will be working so no time for business. Mine are pretty reliable time wise but it's no fun down the field in high wind with a poo bag.
One mistake I made was to ever let her walk on my right side, why did I not realise horse right = dog left. We are on with all good things come from left pocket lol
SuziQ Posted - 24 May 2015 : 10:14:32 PM
lol Ari...bless her and you..it is amazing how quickly they become part of the family..Nancy gets lots of treats, even for doing a wee which my other girls are disgusted by but she needs to have rock solid toilet training and to go on demand.. I know that I have reached that point now that she goes outside 'fakes' having a wee and runs back for a treat! So we are well into consolidation with this now and just need to build on success with lots of clean walks!

Dolly is now 6mths and the housetraining and worry of getting all things right is all a faded memory. My old boy has no symptoms of his managed CKD, plays so much more and eats well. I am so enjoying her and doing lots of training cos she loves to learn. It's easy as every walk down the land to get Ari is an opportunity to practice recall, walk by me and down etc.
The old lad gets a treat every time for doing nothing lol

Ahh bless her.. legs in the air she must to tired!! Nancy has had a quiet day tormenting the dogs and is hiding under the coffee table as they now want to get their own back
FireLight Posted - 09 Apr 2015 : 8:21:56 PM
Oh bless, so adorable, but life must be so hard being a puppy!
Ari Posted - 09 Apr 2015 : 7:40:54 PM
Thanks for posting picture Sally. This is Dolly after a day out with grandchildren and their Staffie. Bless her she has recovered, eaten her tea and is now playing out.
Dexter aged terrier kept going and is now tormenting the pup.

Somebody looks very comfortable :) what a lovel;y photo of her Ari .

Just a little update it's week 4 of Dolly and my Life Skills classes and we are so enjoying it. Have to say it's me that is being trained how to get it right for her. Even the old lad is doing better with his recall after 14 yrs of terrier delinquency on a farm with hundreds of rabbits lol. I take no credit, she is a very clever girl with a lovely calm nature so any mistakes are mine.

What a fabulous start your dogs give to the pups and I share your pleasure in their enjoyment of each other. Over the years my heart and home has taken in rescued adults, pups, kittens and all have mucked in and got on. Dex has lived with various aged cats all his life but the relationship he has with the kittens I got 3 yrs ago is very close and precious so for them to have extended that priviledge to Dolly is wonderful for for us all.
She really is the right pup at the right time.
SuziQ Posted - 09 Mar 2015 : 7:16:31 PM
OMG... sooo cute, I think Dolly is one of the family! Good boy Dexter and black puddy tat!
Isnt it lovely when your animals accept a new addition... my girls are brilliant as there are always dogs coming and going here but I love it when the pup is allowed into the group cuddles and dives into the playing without a care it makes me remember what good girls they are!
Ari Posted - 07 Mar 2015 : 6:16:20 PM
Thanks Sally for the pic. I am so pleased my cats have taken to Dolly and even better they let her into group cuddles.
sab2 Posted - 06 Mar 2015 : 9:49:20 PM

I think you are going to need a bigger chair they all seem to be getting on so well, lovely photos .
SuziQ Posted - 27 Feb 2015 : 9:49:56 PM

Ari Posted - 27 Feb 2015 : 2:54:07 PM
Nancy is just gorgeous, hope she is eating well soon. What lovely dogs all settled together.
Good news today the publicity around Husky stolen in Bradford 3 December has paid off he is home. The lad never gave up working so hard to get him back.
Kharidian Posted - 26 Feb 2015 : 11:29:46 PM
