[My old boy has cushings and is prescribed Pergolide. However the price has risen drastically since my last prescription. Can anyone help with other places to buy it from if I can get a prescription from my Vet? Thank you.

my old boy who i have just lost at the grand old age of 32 1/2 yrs had cushings for the last 9 yrs, i never used any treatment from the vet i used herbal, from global herbs, restore and immuplus, even the vet who wanted me to use vet meds couldnt believe how well he did on them,, and was ridden until the last 6 months only lightly but was a pickle right up till the end, you could see the difference in his sparkle after a couple of weeks of being on it, and never suffered any immune probs at all,, maybe its worth considering,? you can always call them and speak to their vet about it, and it only cost me approx £40 per month,,, hope this helps deb

My vet charges £190 for a box of 160 Prascend tabs - for my mare that's 80 days worth.

I buy Prascend from Hyperdrug. Cheaper than from vet in England although you have to pay for prescription from vet, and signed-for delivery to be safe. The vet can only do one repeat prescription though.....so bear in mind cost of prescription - mine was £18 in UK!! The company sell more than just medicine though so can make postage worthwhile.

Going to see what my French vet will charge when I run out in Feb. He is prepared to prescribe it without all the tests repeated so I might just have to bite the bullet.

The price of pergolide has increased recently as the stocks of the 'human' version have now run out as it is no longer prescribed for parkinsons. The new 'equine' version, whilst identical is of course more expensive as it has a horse on the packaging.

Unfortunately the supply of generic Pergolide has pretty much dried up, meaning the price has risen considerably. I now buy the horse-licensed Prascend because it doesn't work out any more expensive, in fact the 180 tablet pack works out cheaper than paying for pergolide + vets prescription charge.

I had a Cushings horse last year, if you have a vet prescription (VPOM) you can buy it from most on-line pharmacies, this is at a considerably reduced price compared to the vet. If you type Pergolide into google it should return some hits of where you can buy it from also.
Hope that helps, Carole :)
