I was looking through some old posts on here and came across the name Alahs Punch, owned by Mrs Betty of Puddletown Dorset.
My sister used to work for Mrs Betty, and i spent a lot of time at the house and stables as a child.
Punch was the first horse that i ever sat on, and i would love to find out more about him.
Has anyone got any photo's or links to pictures, i would be very interested and gratefull!!

I worked for Mrs. Betty in 1963. Fii did your sister come to the yard on Saturdays? Somewhere I may have the odd snap of Allah and Punch, and some of the mares. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks callisto, i am getting a bit boged down with names and dates now, lol

And another one....

"Curbitz mother Muston Lepta was taken to Sweden as a foal with his mother Muston centimes. D . They come from the famous palomino stud Muston, owned by Mrs. Betty (daughter to another Mrs. Betty who took the Berber Stallion Sahara who is in in a lot of Welsh bloodlines, some unnecessary knowledge ;-).

The Muston Stud began with some cream * / * palomino mares with unknown breeding, some Welsh, some Dartmoor and then used only a small thoroughbred stallion and later most Arab stallions, but also well-known palominos as Bubbly and Golden Trail. Mrs. Betty must have been very good at palomino breeding because she managed to obtain a high percentage of Palomino even though she used both chestnuts and brown Arabian stallions. Curbitz grandmother is also the mother of one of England known palomino called Muston Sol, and great-grandmother Muston Crown is also the grandmother of one of England's new Stars in jumping a stallion named Chinnor Castlemaine has just been sold to USA for a record sum"

If you're reading this Rozy, it is interesting that it says that Mrs Betty was the daughter (in-law?!) of the original Mrs Betty who imported Sahara - I did wonder about the dates if she was hunting Sahara after the first world war and still breeding ponies in the 1970's. These snippets were posted on a Swedish website by someone called Polo Player - any connection to Pelle?

Translation slightly odd (google's own) but I found these two snippets about Muston ponies on a swedish site:-

As I said, father, grandfather and great-grandfather is pure Arabs, grandmother Muston Crown is a palomino after the small (149cmhöga) thoroughbred / polo pony stallion Silverdale Golden FernXX out of mare Muston Pint, a cremellosto with an unknown strain of welshtyp and 132 cm high. M Muston stud farm owned by a Mrs. Betty and was successful breeder of Palomino during the 50's-70's last century.
Muston Crown's even further back in the pedigree of the Dutch ridponnyhingsten Chinnor Castleman imported to England and then sold for a record sum to the U.S. after placing a meteoric career in show jumping in england.

Muston Crown is registered with the following strain:
By Silverdale Golden Fern GSB (chestnut) 14.3 hands high ex Muston Pint (cremello ) 13 hands high , welsh type mare from Brecon Hills, breeding unknown.
In contrast, Silverdale Golden Fern several sons who were exported to Argentina for use in polo pony breeding, and Muston Crown was also the mother of Muston Mali, palomino 14.3hh e. Li Fellah's Kismet (Anglo Arab) who was exported to Argentina on 60talet. Muston Stud had a mare with Argentine lines called Muston Sult (half-bred criolla).

Callisto, thankyou for that!
I remember a mare called sult ( all these years i thought it was salt) a cremello or light palimino mare who had a foal at a very late age, who was called Big shock, who i presume was by Punch, or maybe by Mrs B's pony stallion The Ghost.
Also a palamino mare called Zloty?

It was my sister who worked for her, around the late 60's and the 70's, i do know her grandaughter, so could ask her, but she's a vet and very busy, thought i could have a little project and find som pics on the net.
From what i can remember Mrs Betty also bred welsh ponies, or welsh x Arabs, a lot of her stock were named after currency from different countries. Will have to have a bit of a think about names.

Pelle who posts on here is related to Mrs Betty.. I wonder if its the same one.

Can you tell us what other horses she had and how long ago it was that you worked for her.

We know she had some very early imports..
Thanks Sue

Fii, Allah II of Yeomans is Alahs Punch's sire. Don't know where else you could look apart from googling him, or trying to get hold of Mrs Betty or her relatives.
fii Posted - 07 Oct 2011 : 7:08:16 PM
Does anybody have any ideas where else i could look?
fii Posted - 07 Oct 2011 : 7:02:54 PM
