I think AL should improve the way members are able to upload their pic's . The current method is not user friendly and I have seen a decline in pic's being shown ..People like to see pic's ..

You can credit it or not, your choice. We have no requirements on that... buy the photographer may have and, if he does, the right thing would be to honor them.
Misshana Posted - 18 Jul 2011 : 11:24:40 AM
Thanks Rui. So should I say taken by for instance Sweet or just put the picture on with my own
Rui Posted - 18 Jul 2011 : 11:02:25 AM
You can use all the pictures you want, as long as you own them and posting them here does not violate the photographer's copyrights.

We fully respect copyrights and we will remove pictures when the copyright owner files a legitimate copyright violation complaint (usually we have no way to know if someone is violating a copyright when posting a picture).

Now I've finally find out how to post pictures, can I use professional photographer pictures??
Kharidian Posted - 17 Jul 2011 : 1:33:29 PM
Hee hee, thanks Pasha - I see what you mean about using the IMG code (it's only just sunk in since I've read Rui's post which has a screen dump of the Photobucket screen).....I'll be able to post photos a nanosecond quicker now!

Chris,
You are welcome.

I did add a small fix to your image. I think you chose the Direct link option in photobucket, but if you instead click over the option labeled IMG code, all you need to do is come here and paste the copied contents, and the image will be displayed, without any other efforts (as Pasha had stated above).

Thank you :).

Chris,

There are technical and cost reasons for the current situation, too. We pay for our hosting and we use Windows servers. These servers are costlier than other server types and the difference in the storage space available at a reasonable cost is nothing but staggering.

I will address this situation in the future, that's for sure. I will address it not only for the ease of use, but also to allow better access to your own pictures, posted on the forum, over the years. Right now you post them then and they are simply "gone", as they are then nothing more than a small part of a post. That is a thing that I have thought about for a long time. There are no easy technical solutions for this, but I am committed to find a suitable one. If and when we do both, then we will beat most forums on it, free or paid .

You can use photobucket, but photobucket is easier on its own. Flickr is quite harder, thus our tool to simplify its use.

Just making a suggestion, other than the photo thing I do think this is a good forum. I use another forum that I can upload directly from my hard drive and it is free to use.
Pasha Posted - 14 Jul 2011 : 1:20:21 PM
I agree with Caryn and think you are being unfair to AL who provide this forum FREE for you to use! I am not aware of any other free forum where you can post pics directly from your PC
Vik1 Posted - 14 Jul 2011 : 1:04:33 PM
I wouldnt say its not user friendly I would say its really fidgety, which I could do without. Its a bit annoying that if I want to post a pic, I have to upload it onto photobucket or flickr, THEN go through a bit of a rigmaroll to put it on here. It would be much easier, quicker and less hassle if you could just select a browse button and upload it directly off your hard drive. I dont want to have to go through flickr etc.
I dont post many pics because I cant be bothered with it tbh.
Sab2..Im also now an apple convert and Im still figuring things out on it. Didnt think it would be soo different, but it is superior and faster!

I use Photobucket, have two tabs open i.e. Photobucket and AL, use the "direct link" on Photobucket (which copies automatically), switch to the AL tab, click on the "insert Image" icon (third from the right on the top line of AL icons) on the Format: line, click "Edit" on the main toolbar and then "Paste" between the [img][/img] commands and Bob's your uncle!

It's even easier that that Click on the photobucket IMG Code, it auto copies, then right click in your post here, select paste, Simples!

Yes I normally update through flikr, however my pc has died a horrid death so I'm just using my iPhone or my sons laptop

Rui, is there a way to upload from iPhone/iPad etc without having to use flikr or similar? ... So I dont have to fill other laptops with my photos? Thanks x
Arabian Girl Posted - 13 Jul 2011 : 8:09:04 PM
I think its quite easy to upload fotos,,I think you just need to be shown to find it easy....
debs Posted - 13 Jul 2011 : 7:52:11 PM
I am technically derelict.... found the easiest way was photobucket. Must admit though can never remember what to do.... I'm like a ;born again' every time!!!
Think thats more me than AL!!!
taranstorm Posted - 13 Jul 2011 : 6:00:04 PM
i agree! take me ages to upload pictures here, would be lot easier if change to sam/similar as facebook as easy to upload pictures on there as dont need upload from flickr which takes longer for me

We may eventually consider a different way to upload or otherwise use pictures posted elsewhere.

Meanwhile, other than sites who may have a direct interface with flickr, I don't think using flickr images can be much easier than the tool we have explicitly developed after flickr made it harder to use their pictures in forums. It's a copy and paste thing and many, many users use it successfully. Photobucket is also easy to use.

I agree it could be made easier, but that would require that we store all images uploaded by the users. For several reasons, we are not yet ready to do that.

I am always available to help with anything related to the forum, as some members kindly remarked. Be it images, video, or anything else, please feel free to send me a PM and I will be glad to help. Just let me know and a PM is always better than a request in a post, as I don't always have the opportunity to read all the posts made in the forum.

Thanks .
