Hi just wondered if anyone can recommend ( or pm ) details as too were I can buy a navy jacket that is like a dressage/ or cutaway style for the showring?
I have a really lovely mears jacket and although its a very smart style, with a cutaway 'factor' and waiscoat its black!

and I cant seem to find one anywere that I feel is nice enough to wear in a championship situation ( if we are lucky enough to get through)!! or if I wanted to do a concours de elegance class for exampleany top tips for outfits??? thought would ask the experts!! thanks xx

Sazzlepants, I'm sure you will have a brilliant day at the Cherif, especially as it is such a special one. I would love to be there but as I am still recovering from rare autoimmune disease eosinophilic fasciitis I still can't walk very well or stand for long and wouldn't cope with a big day out. Still, at least I am on the mend now - mustn't grumble as Wogan says! Sig pics show said jacket at Malvern and the Cherif - the two best days of the year!

hiya Garnet , happy days indeed!
I first went to cherif in 1998! seems so long ago now...
I am really looking forward to attending this year (without pony sadly) will you be spectating at all?
I will DEFINATELY check out Derby house, thank you
the Pretty Polly jackets are beautiful as well , think i may have to leave tails for future dressage events ,although I dont think I will make PSG somehow ha ha!
the tweed cutaway will have to remain in memory lane I think x
Thanks everyone really helpful

My tweed wasn't a cutaway, just a normal jacket - I didn't make myself very clear there; just having a fond reminisce - but it was lovely quality which is why I thought DH might do a navy cutaway in a similar quality.

SARAH you are not too old!!! BUT I still prefer full tails... much more elegant IMO... A-N-D when you've trained Ramak to PSG you can wear them for Dressage too

Hmm not too sure about a Tweed cutaway... you KNOW I love my BLING (poor Shesky looks like a Swavorski model in the show ring he he) BUT a Tweed cutaway maybe a step too far?!

I had a beautiful navy Caldene wool cutaway jacket which was actually part of a sidesaddle habit - bought from Robinsons when it was more upmarket than it is now for the first Cherif (1991!) Happy days! I don't know whether Caldene still do the same jacket, or have you thought of Derby House? I had a lovely tweed from there, again going back to the days when they were in their old premises.

Hi there thanks Pasha thats helpfulI did have a look and found Caldene Newark - I used to have one of these in the tweed variation I think they were a bit of a fash in the 90's I seem to remember !
I sold mine on ebay, tragic!!! wish I had kept it now..anyway off to look at Loulou's tips now

although,.. maybe I am too old to wear that kind of thing...and need to stand in the corner and think about what I am doing..ha ha !
UI just wanted something smarter than a polyester offering!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

I have just purchased a lovely navy heavy weight wool jacket for my daughter from mrs candy - google and it should come up, service was excellent and the quality is second to none. It arrived with 3 days and they are extremely helpful. I brought it for her birthday to go with her dressage top hat which she will hopefully get to wear at Towerlands

They are quite pricey though - but a real lifetime investment

Found some!!! Google 'cutaway show jacket' and willow farm have several - no pics nad order only, but worth a call?

Cavallo do one honey but it's very 'dressage' i.e. square with silver buttons and pricey at over £200!!!

I have seen them on one of the showing retailer websites but can't remember where.... I think they look lovely! Although I LOVE proper tails... if you could get some proper tails second hand (well known auction site) I think that would always look best x

Hi thanks Lynda, thats useful to know - still on the lookout for a jacket though nonetheless......

For true Concours classes, the correct dress is never a cut away jacket, unless you are side saddle, or you choose to do Dressage classes.
