Who's going?

Entered Angel in the 30km NCR on the Monday although with all this rain I'm not sure whether I'm going to enjoy trudging through all the mud . Could always downgrade to the 10km lead-rein and take Mr Roobarb

Hello Rachel

Great to make contact. Phy was 4th in HOYS Ridden stallions and 1st & Amateur Ridden Champion. He was really unnerved by the intermittant pop music coming from overhead speakers but managed to be brave most of the time!!!
I've emailed you but I'm not good at this IT business so PM me if you don't get it.

Hello Rachel

Congratulations to you & Seb from his half brother & sister Symphytum & Sophora. (Dhruv x Sakuntala)What a brood mare Sakuntala has been with Salsola & Seb in endurance. I'll tell Phy that while he was strutting his stuff in the show ring at HoCoN Seb was doing REAL WORK covering the miles.I think that another Sakuntala offspring (Salsifis)is about to start endurance. Her owner posts as White Bryony.
Pleased to see that Bhautika is coming on well. I went to see her but she was too small for me. What a great mover.

Good luck for future endeavours

Angela, Phy & Sophy.

Looking good and very calm Did you see the ones of me and Rooster on Sunday

Rooster was chasing Haj, who looks a little calmer in the previous two photos, but not much

Just had a look on David Saunders Website and found our photo from Monday

Doesn't she look amazing? Photo taken 4 days before her 17th Birthday, and from the looks of Thomas I should have charged my mum for her riding lesson

Hi All, Congratulations to Rachel & Selasphorus, Well Done on your 100mile ride... Seb got stronger and stronger as the day and distance went on. Eating and drinking the whole day through. The 160k Elivator started at 6am and finished for Rachel & Seb and Lesley & Firebird at 10.25pm..in the dark, they were the last two riders out on course for Saturday. It was magical and they deserved the reception they got when they came over the line, the folks at the finish cheered them in. Floodlights were brought in for the vetting area... Alan was there to. Great Stuff. Sue.
Just going to the start.
Rachels pic of the next morning.

Yes - do look out for us Cheryl. If I tell Ged he has a legion of fans waiting for him he's more likely to load on the box

Aghh that's the answer to Bo then Laura plenty of boys and food
Gucci Posted - 27 May 2009 : 7:55:20 PM
Judith the saddle performed very well and Alan was waiting at every VG to make sure it was still fitting after many hours on Seb's back. I have a picture of Seb grazing in the sun the next morning with not a mark on his back.

Helen I'll be riding a little grey mare called Bhautika( Dante x Baradia )I bought from Finn Guinness at the the Biddesden stud where I also bought Seb both as 3yos. She is quite small but covers the ground nicely so I just hope she behaves herself on Saturday . At least we don't have to go up the huge hill !!
loosefur Posted - 27 May 2009 : 7:47:53 PM
Look at that daft boy Haj in the photo. He was pretty much like that for the first 30 minutes - sometimes he forgets he's a horse and pretends he's Tigger instead.

Dukeries was fab (huge thanks to Lucy who is the best crew ever!) and though the 50k was a challenge to the unfit me an even bigger challenge awaits me this week. Getting Gedenski in the horsebox. He's not been loaded since February so I must practise before Saturday and Delamere. He's looking and feeling very well so hopefully he'll be keen to come out to a party. We should be fine as long as it's not raining
Mrs Vlacq Posted - 27 May 2009 : 7:13:21 PM
Bo's gonna love it!! All those people to potentially yield treats in her direction She was fab to hack around here with the big boys - she'll be spoilt for choice of fellas at her debut ride then
Enjoy folks - hope the sun shines for you
Judith S Posted - 27 May 2009 : 4:26:05 PM
Well done Rachel & Seb Pleased the saddle performed well!
Helen Newton Posted - 27 May 2009 : 3:24:18 PM
Oooo how excitingtell us about the baby horse, Rachel, dying to know more
Gucci Posted - 27 May 2009 : 2:59:39 PM
I'll be in the same class as you then Helen and no I'm not riding Seb ! I'm taking the baby out for her first outing with a very big green ribbon attached . It will be good to see Ged again though.

I'm vet writing on Sunday so I'll see you at Kelsall as well - that's all after I've route marked on Friday phew!!

We will (hopefully) be at Delamere wheeling Carly out for 18k pleasure ride with Angela and the great Gedenski and have entered the 32k pleasure ride at Kelsall on Sunday with Rooster to keep him ticking over for another 50k at Cirencester (again fingers firmly crossed) So see you then
Gucci Posted - 26 May 2009 : 7:51:14 PM
Thank you for your kind comments everyone. Seb was certainly feeling good the following morning and when I turned him out on our arrival home he cantered away and proceded to show off to Tara with a display of jumping and bucking as if to say ' your not the only one who can do this 100 mile thing you know ' but then the grass and his stomach got the better of him....

Tricia and Helen I hope to see you both at Delamere on Saturday.
Rachel

Helen Newton Posted - 26 May 2009 : 4:30:16 PM
Yes, well done Rachel and Seb. I find it hard to imagine doing 100 miles, I was sore after 30 Not to mention the hard work it must take to get your horse to that level of fitness, hats off!
Tricia Posted - 26 May 2009 : 4:04:23 PM
Well done Rachael on your well earned success with Seb. He did look fantastic in his corall the following morning, you would never have thought he had done 100 miles, he looked as if you should have been doing a ride with him that morning.

Crusaders Angel Posted - 26 May 2009 : 1:15:50 PM
Had a fab ride thanks Helen - lovely to meet you, Steve & Rooster - doesn't Haj look funny .

Angel was definitely in race mode yesterday

Poor Tom wasted a lot of energy at the start by & so had to give my mum a riding lesson for the first 20 mins as she's not used to riding him like that as he's normally such a plod

When he "died" half way round Angel kept stopping and looking back at him and grinding her teeth as if to say "oh for Pete's sake, shift your lardy bum, I'm missing out on valuable eating time here, harrumph" .

Made it round in just under 2hrs which was pretty good going as we had to walk from the Stewards at Carburton/Hazel Gap all the way to the road crossing as Tom couldn't cope with the stones even with boots on the front, bless him.
