Everywhere this morning, webs looked so pretty in the field between the long plants. Not so pretty when I walked through one when entering my tack room and ended up with the web on my hair and the spider crawling up my face! Luckily they don't frighten me!

I think the above posts show an impressive statistic !! I love spiders and have to rescue my husband from them... but generally you dont find many females that are not "girls" where spiders are concerned... so I am thinking maybe there is something in our horse loving genes that make us different from the scared shrieking females that are terrified of spiders.

Well we certainly can't afford to be too "girlish"around horses Mucking out, dust, mud, swat horseflies, you name it…and try wearing something feminine you can count on a horse sneezing on you or using you as a scratching post! And we LOVE the smell but this must be another genetic trait
At a previous yard I was the one being called by the groom to rescue small snakes (or to rescue him from what he saw as cobras),I would put a glove on (well they were not poisonous but can always bite if threatened) and catch them to release FAR AWAY….he looked at me like I was Crocodile Dundee!

I think we must throw back in our ancestry to a related strain of spider and horse loving humans ?. The other thing I have noticed is there is a higher proportion of redheads in the horsey world .........I know there are lots who dont like spiders but do like horses but the posts above suggest more arab owners like spiders than hate them.

They dont worry me I leave them as they eat most other insects, as its getting a bit colder at night now I am seeing them more often now, caught the dog terrorising one in the hallway the other night she likes to run round with them in her mouth then brings them to you.

The older I get, the more tolerant I get of them. I'm OK until they run, the way they scuttle makes me shiver if they're big.

Like Pasch, I love the little jumping ones, they have the cutest faces. If you Google "jumping spider faces" and click on one of the photos, your screen will be filled with funny little faces.

I like them. There are a few living in my house, they keep to their own and eat mosquitoes and other insects. They make their webs behind lamps so insects are attracted by the light and fall in the web.I like the cute small jumping spiders that live outside, too, they have quite a personality!

I can deal with spiders if they keep their distance. Im not scared of them but I dont like them. I cant pick them up or catch them though so that leave only 2 alternatives...leave alone or squish.
A few nights ago I had 2 pretty big ones in my house (circumference of them meant they wouldnt fit in your average tumbler size). Feeling generous and as they were at other end of living room I left them alone. Unfortunately for them, 2 days later they made the mistake of wandering into my bedroom...there is a line!

I don't like beatles and several years ago I worked with a lad who didn't like spiders so we had it sorted; I removed the spiders and put them outside and he dealt with the beatles.

I don't mind spiders at all and always rescue them of I can. Strangely every year around this time one of those big body short legged spiders builds it's web near my back door light.

Hate them, I almost trod on one the other day, then because I was having the screaming- ad- dabs almost fainted!

Another spider lover from a family of haters; no idea where my daughter and sister and daughter get it from.

Another spider lover here. I have to go first on our rides so I get the spider webs first as my friend is terrified of them.

I like spiders too and am always astounded by how strong their webs are when they get in your eyelashes & hair!
