Has anybody tried the Wintec Pro Trail or the Pro Endurance saddle. I like the idea of the synthetics being so light and they look very comfy and secure but not sure about the long dressage type girthing system on sensitive skin.
I am happy with my trusty Lovett and Rickets that is doing me and AriArab fine but it's heavy (I'm not) so unless the synthetics are fabulous I won't be changing something that ain't broke.

Quarabian, it's all informative as I have looked at the stock saddle as well. My only issue with my L&R is the weight but it doesn't slow Ari down lol or bother him at all in 6yrs so am thinking I should worry less.
My L&R has thigh roles and and the leather is the nonslip soft stuff and I agree both make a big difference when we have a sharp swerve.
I know L&R aren't fashionable now but it's a beautifully made saddle and my pal paid £1100 for it 10 yrs ago. Total chance we tried it as they don't normally suit Arabs but he is a big lad with good wither and it is wide fit.
From what I have seen of more recent leather saddles I think the good synthetics are fabulous value for money.

Thanks Arachnid that is helpful. I heard that the new model takes a wide gullet. The 2000 fits this mare so I will find out more.

Sorry to hijack your thread Ari.

Hi Quarabian
Yes I did try the Stock saddle wintec a few years ago but at the time it didnt take an extra wide gullet - think it does now. It was really comfortable and secure for me - just didn't fit my horse. My saddler tells me that all Wintecs are on a curved tree so if you have a horse with a flat back it won't do the trick.

The only synthetic saddle I've had any success with is the Wintec Isabell. The others I've tried just don't stay still.

I love my wintec 2000. It seems important to have the suede effect for grip as the synthetic leather look can be slippery. Definately prefering the flocked variety.

While we are on the subject I am considering an aussie wintec because one of mine is bucking in opemn spaces and I am not as flexible as I used to be. Hopefull the thigh thingy's will afford some security. Anyone had one of these?

Yes, I had a loan of this from Wintec for a week recently. I liked it but Inka didn't and I couldn't justify it's cost tbh. Also I'm not sure I like air as cushioning and I felt it was too bulky with the cair panels on the sides. I eventually opted for a thorowgood T4 endurance.
