My daughter rode pheasant, crow, hen, in fact all bird proof Ari on Friday and said he was most upset by what turn out to be Curlews.
Same thing with me today, bless em they must have a nest near a track I use and he picked up on their distress call. We passed with no fuss and there is a dry stone wall between their nesting field and the track so hopefully Arab and Curlews will achieve a mutual understanding.
We are near open moor with wet ground and a small lake so ideal for them, fabulous birds and amazed at how big they are.

That's arabs for you. Good boy. I have had highlands. I know they are calm usually but if something does upset them there is no reasoning with them.

We met Curlew parents again and they were very aggressive, resting NH racehorses in adjoining field were very upset so galloping around. Pals very calm Highland lost the plot and my "spooky" Arab although on high alert got a grip, listened to me and led the way past Curlews and galloping horses. He will swerve at nothing but when I really need him to man up he has never let me down.

We have curlews as well, we live on the edge of a grouse moor , they are lovely birds aren't they :) my arab mare can be an old bag but i will say she is fab with birds when out hacking, the grouse are the worst as they wait till you are over them then fly between the horses legs and she dose not bat an eyelid, she has to have some good points bless her
