Posted - 23 Sep 2013 : 7:50:48 PM Sorry for my long absence over the sumer, finally got round to doing something with Tiger after him having a lovely relaxing summer off while I focused on my big baby horse who has now found a lovely home, so now Tiger is back in the picture and he seems rather pleased to be! haha
So what do we decide to do with a horse that hasn't really been out and about much this year? Oh i know what enter him in the Open 1m class at a Hunter Trial as it's only 5 mins round the road!
But of course Tiger being Tiger, absolutely LOVED being back out and had an absolute whale of a time, despite me walking the course the day before an pooping my pants! especially at the 3 part water complex which involved a very big skinny house- a stride and then a jump into the water- then three stride and then another equally huge skinny out! + a rather ma-hoosive corner a triple skinny brush that was rather spectacular, an into space jump that when I stood the other of it it came up to my shoulders- i'm 5ft10!!!!!! and many many more pant pooping stuff!!!!
So we arrive with our slightly rusty arab amongst all the big thoroughbredy types and do a bit of a warm up and then gooooo!!!! and did he go! what a super star couldn't be more proud we flewww round CLEAR- even over ALLLLL the scary fences and we came 5th!!!!! So so proud of my little a-rab, queue a few tears all round!!!! horse back on trailer with very big haynet and bacon butty's all round!!! Good days work!!!!
Big thanks to Rach for driving me there even still in your broken state, and giving me a bit of a pep talk- oh an tipping off the commentator!!!! cheeeeers LOLLLLLL!!!!
So smiles allround and a great time was had by all, much more exciting than all this fannying about showing lark Tiger certainly thinks so
Anyways photo time of the super star if you haven't seen then on Facebook already!!!!
and here's a video of him recently + hunter trial action!!!! turn up your speakers :P !!!!
Lots of love Jess & Tiger xxxxxx |

Posted - 24 Sep 2013 : 1:53:09 PM Well done, you're both looking super, you can see how much he loves it - Gus is the same, just lights up when he sees the jumps! I just wish he would be quite as enthusiastic as Tiger with water but we're getting there ;) In the meantime i'm going to register him BS
Gus is catching up with him height wise too, he is now 15.3...#

Posted - 24 Sep 2013 : 11:07:52 AM Martha here's his breeding
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/av+kubla+khan
I've seen him in the flesh too - just gorgeous (and definitely 16hh).
If you do a search on here for Jess and Tiger, Jess has posted some amazing videos which tell their story and are really beautiful (they are on Facebook too). Well worth looking at, and certainly make me well up when I watch them at times.
I am gutted that I can't watch the video above due to the company firewall
He's Lily's cousin, so I think it's time to channel Tiger and teach her to jump - a job for the winter - she's as tall as him, so surely we can make it over 2'6"???? |

Posted - 24 Sep 2013 : 10:49:40 AM Martha, just a partial answer on Jess's behalf as I've seen Tiger in the flesh (with another "hat" on - open showing at HOCON), you wouldn't believe that he is 16hh from those photos; Jess has the longest legs I've ever seen!

Posted - 24 Sep 2013 : 08:43:33 AM Arachnid, it's true...! And because my mare is "arab shaped" I worry more than I ought to on a number of things. I WOULD like to show Esme this video of Tiger, however, and demonstrate to her how some arabians actually do seem to wear a bit without finding it offensive....!!! |
Arachnid |
Posted - 24 Sep 2013 : 08:29:07 AM Inspirational! I do suspect that most arabs would be good at jumping if they weren't ridden by people like me who too chicken. |

Posted - 24 Sep 2013 : 08:10:44 AM OMG, your horse LOVES his life....wow! This is fantastic! Can i share your video on my facebook? I love the intro when he says Tiger is one of the few jumping arabs in the country and then Tiger shows us how EASY it is for him!!! And he doesn't even look that big an arab!
What is his breeding? How big is he? How did you discover how much he loves jumping?
My ex-broodmare Esme seems to like to jump. Poor horse is landed with me and I am a bit nervous of jumping even my old trusty welsh, let alone my springy arab! However, she likes it so much and is good at it, so I do try.....but only in the school, not over the big cross country stuff. Oh, but can't Tiger fly???!!!! |
