Reply author: Delyth I'm really cheating !! This is my straight Russian mare Ruth OD but her damline is Badja and she was by the late Margaret Evans' Nadeem who was exported to the Netherlands. Nadeem was out of the General Grant daughter Eloia who was Supreme British National Champion Mare and who in turn was out of Elvira by Rissalix !! So we do go back to Razina who was bred at Crabbet :))

Reply author: Cate My Crabbet girl is the grey in my photos, she is Celestial Silver (Aboud x Silver Yasmin) full sister to the chestnuts Charisima and Chanele all bred by Fiona Husband, Adamston Stud, Dundee. Alas my mare is no longer with me as I lost her when her colt was eight months. Although, I still have her colt who is around 60% Crabbet perhaps a little more or a little less as his sire is Egyptian although he does have his Crabbet Certificate which makes him 31% through his old Egyptian lines. Photos show Celestial Silver (Aboud x Silver Yasmin) High 90% Crabbet; her 2009 colt Bhaltos Ishtihar (Ahanu x Celestial Silver); and my colt's sire Ahanu (Emiratus B x Jiwan) approx 31%
Reply author: tamila It is lovely to see all these horses. It is great to see Riyaala as I nearly bought her instead of Roxaana (Nashaal x Roxanya) but because I had known Roxanya all her life I chose Anna.
Reply author: suneagle where in wales is the crabbet show held? would be nice for my boy to get out there if its not to far away.
Reply author: Professional Lurker The Welsh Crabbet Show is held at Pencoed College, Pencoed, Bridgend.
Reply author: Nicky F Gorgeous photos of all your lovely Crabbets! My boy, El Tanaya, is 99.4% (El Crysto x Mattaniah) but I have yet to master the art of adding photos He is the lighter chestnut in my sig pics.
Reply author: Quarabian
Reply author: Gemma Vlacq Majid: approx. 89% crabbet (her cert's filed and I can't be bothered to get out of bed to dig it out!). Can be crabby unless you give her the adoration she clearly thinks she is worth!
Reply author: jaj Ari is such a gorgeous colour!
Reply author: Roseanne I love Ari... xx
Reply author: Kathy1 SULTANN is our last year's addition to our Crabbet horses; he is by Daas (Imad x Dancing Queen) x Summertime Blues (Indian Idyll x Rose of Bediya)- we are delighted with him. A big thank you to Rosemary and Elizabeth Archer for leasing Summer to us.

Reply author: firstlady lovely horses all
Reply author: ScougallGHA Here are a few of ours, all from the Aboud bloodlines although unsure of their percentages!
Reply author: amma
Reply author: alan Alistair, I agree. The 75%+ classes need to be kept separate as otherwise its defeating the object of holding Crabbet classes but maybe have additional classes for 50 - 74.99% though I don't know how it could work as the Crabbet Organization are under a lot of pressure with heritage certificates as it is. A possibility could be if at least one parents percentage is known to be above 75%?? What do others think?

Reply author: kastell Hi Mandy, ok I will make a suggestion on that thread - although not being a UK resident myself I won't be coming unfortunately, I would love to though!
Reply author: Silvern_Scepris I'm loving all these Crabbets!
Reply author: george such beautiful horses all of you, I'd love to know if there's any crabbet in my little lot, but I am hopeless at it....so if anyone wants to take a look and let me know I'd be very gratefull, here's links just in case anybody has the time to take a look
Reply author: Kharidian Ooh, Silvern Scepris is gorgeous!
Reply author: RUTHIE Hi George, I had a look to see if I could pick up a link with Crystal Flash but it would be probably be a different line. Sorry, I don't know.
Reply author: kastell Hi George, all of your horses have Crabbet blood in them, although all of their pedigrees are complex & time consuming ones to work out, as some Crabbet blood comes from way back, mixed in with Russian, Polish, Egyptian, Spanish lines etc.
Reply author: debs Hi Elizabeth........ he looks fab xx
Reply author: simbba Here's my yearling filly over 75% crabbet
Reply author: george Kastell, thank you for trying to explain...although I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, lol, so I'm still a bit confused as to how to work it all out, I know there are previous threads about how to work it all out and keep promising myself that I will sit down and give it my best...but I think I will wait until my children are back in school Thanx for taking a look
Reply author: Paulette This is the Crabbet/Old English mare that started it all for me, Gamalia by Al Malik and out of Gazania by Stargard, bred by Mrs Trimingham. Broken to ride at 15 and an armchair ride. A non breeder according to Newmarket (advanced chronic glandular degeneration, cysts, atrophy, ovarian problem!!!) who gave me 3 colts and a filly (which unfortunately I lost)to single coverings followed by antibiotic washouts. Her son by Silver Blue is third from left below and head shot. Shall have to hunt out pictures of her other offspring.
Reply author: TanyanChewy Lovely Paulette. Gamalia looks a kind person, she's got a lovely eye. Ooh and I do like Silver Blue!
Reply author: Paulette Thank you Blue is a chip off the old block. Hunted out more piccies of her offspring.
Reply author: Paulette Pictures of the pure Crabbet Rafid (Indian Magic x Sunset) owned by Maureen de Popp taken back in the mid 1970s.
Reply author: TOOTHLESS .
Reply author: georgiauk Lovely Lovely Pictures Paulette do you have a recent pic of Simalia BLue ? Does he have any foals yet?
Reply author: TOOTHLESS .
Reply author: Paulette The third picture below and head shot are of Silmalia Blue taken 2 years ago. There are some on Flickr but not having much luck at uploading them!! Definately easier with Photobucket or just me being thick. He hasnt been bred as would not jump on board! Now 17 and must definately try and collect from him before its too late. Would love to see foals by him.
Reply author: TOOTHLESS
Reply author: Paulette Thanks for your kind comments. He has somewhere to put a saddle and is a lovely ride or was when I was more agile. A bitter dippy backed now but that's the Rissalix line. I totally agree about a good bodied arabian, there's nothing worse than thinking you are sitting on two planks of wood. I love Rusleema, beautiful mare. Found a photo of Rusleem taken at Malvern quite a few years ago. Will put it up tomorrow. I'm sure Donna Butcher would like to see it too.
Reply author: Paulette At last my brain is functioning. Pictures below of Silmalia Blue (94% Crabbet - 100% Crabbet/Old English). 2nd AHS Nationals as a two year old.
Reply author: Paulette Pictures of Harkem by Haroun, taken at Ascot.
Reply author: debs Lovely lovely horses!
Reply author: firstlady Paulette fab pics thank you for sharing
Reply author: gg paulette
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Paulette . Being a bit dippy in the back is not the same as being weak backed, as long as the loins are strong. Personally I prefer a slight dip than a "laser leveled" back from the base of the withers to the root of the tail. My 1st arabian Taaj looked lovely under saddle, and he had a lot sticking out the back end
Reply author: TanyanChewy Some really lovely piccies continuing to be shared on this thread. Am very much enjoying it.
Reply author: Paulette Couldn't agree more Toothless, they certainly can be too short in the back as well, not a nice ride. Found more piccies of Silmalia Blue. First as a foal.
Reply author: Paulette Here is a picture of Rusleem taken at Malvern. Can't remember which year.
Reply author: Cate Really lovely photos of some lovely horses. I must say I don't like a straight back and when a lady visited me and saw my Hispano Arabe mare her comments were "how lovely to see a horse with somewhere to put the saddle!" In fact all my Arab horses have somewhere for the saddle.
Reply author: parrot so excited just heard the mare i am leasing is in foal
Reply author: debs oooh love pic3 and 4!
Reply author: Libby Frost lovely pics guys
Reply author: Nia Shadow
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Paulette, Good to see you show him yourself. I was lucky to have the young lady up the road to do it for me ;and to back him. I don't ride, but I do have a pict of myself enjoing the Aussie sun at age 13 on board a horse my cousins had on the farm. If you tempt me I will show you.
Reply author: LYNDILOU I agree toothless , the croup here gives the look of length in the back when in fact its the croup thats long ( I know hes not Crabbet but he has crabbet in him
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Lindilou. Its a balanced horse that we like to see and he is that. And he is Arabian, and a very good specimen at that. It can drive you nuts, I imagine trying to breed pure this pure that, or straight this straight that
Reply author: Paulette Very true Toothless and lovely pictures Lynda. First time I've seen him ridden I think. The Rusleem photo was 1995 and there were 76 entries in the stallion classes! Rusleem was 2nd.
Reply author: fidodido Lots of lovely crabbets .
Reply author: LYNDILOU I understand Toothless and strangly my first encounter with Arabians was with Crabbet/ old english, 50 plus years ago there was hardly anything else in the UK.
Reply author: jaj Me too 45 years ago. All the horses were of that stamp. I love your boy Attilo, he puts me in mind of a horse called Royal Storm who was my first 'chick and hen' fixation!
Reply author: LYNDILOU whats even stranger Paulette , is ME riding him
Reply author: LYNDILOU Jen you were only a baby 45 years ago ! in fact I didnt even think you had reached 40 yet!
Reply author: Honeyb060674 Lovely lovely crabbets They have always been my favorite bloodline. When our vet came to give Sunny his jabs just after we brought him home, he stood back & took a long hard look (he's not an arab fan in the slightest ) And categorically stated "Now he's more my type of arab"
Reply author: RUTHIE Lol Honeyb060674, totally agree with your vet!!
Reply author: jaj Bless you Lynda, yes I'm talking utter b*********, I meant 35 years ago of course not 45 !
Reply author: TOOTHLESS .
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Does'nt look too bad I suppose. This old computer has a curved screen which tends to lengthen the horses. The foal is R's 10 mth old daughter (Weaned) who has shot up in the 3 wks since I've last seen her. Can't wait to bring them both closer to the city so that I can work on them. I thought R looked great under the dirt this morning, but the filly needs to put on a few kilos. My daughter's lap top is under lock and key so I'll just have to wait for her to come home.
Reply author: LYNDILOU LOL Thought so jen , 45 years....... impossible Toothless that is a beautiful action picture that shows us why we love this breed so much

Also... and I would say this wouldn't I? but LOOKING like a good Arab is not enough, they must move, behave and ride like a good Arab to be worthy of their heritage. Anyone who may have missed it have a look on the showing forum re the Welsh Crabbet Show if you would like an eyeful of lovely Crabbet horses, Pencoed, Sept 11th is the place to be!... not too late to enter either! Cheers Lisa PS I think that Rusleem would look even better if he were not being asked to do a Llama impression!
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Pict was a fluke of course . That tree in the background (Ghost Gum I think) is no different today than it was 60yrs ago-unlike me. It's still smooth and slender -unlike me.
Reply author: joanna_piana Tried to take some new pics of Ishara (100% Crabbet) with my new camera but i'm clearly not cut out to be a photographer! She is either right on top of me or miles away. Here is one a friend took after dressage last week.
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Joanna. Lovely mare. Thought the breeding rang a bell so I looked her up on allbreeds. Her brother Binley Prince Iqbal is here in Australia. Have inquired about him. One for the future . Giving WH Justice another shot this year as R missed to him last year.
Reply author: TOOTHLESS .
Reply author: LYNDILOU a power house of beauty! WH Justice will be wonderful on her !
Reply author: Magician 100% crabbet mare Marbon Melissa & colt Marbon Mastarcraftsman
Reply author: joanna_piana Ooh Toothless I'm sure Rusleema and Iqbal would produce something really special. I've only seen pictures of him on Facebook but he looks very similar to Ishara.
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Magician I think your colt will mature into a beautiful masculine stallion. Like him a lot.
Reply author: Magician Thank you Toothless. I now need to find him a new stallion/showing home as I have his mother, full sister, Masalla, and my 3yo unrelated Ibn Silver colt, Magician!
Reply author: Crazydancer I think it was Mastarcraftsman I saw not long after he was born at Di's, such a sweetie and he has grown into a very handsome boy! I'm sure he will be stunning stallion, and hope you find a good home for him.
Reply author: Angelo I'm loving this topic. So many beautiful Crabbets. I've poster a pic of my baby Llain Shafiq earlier in this topic at 6 months. Here's some of him as a yearling.
Reply author: Tomos Hi Angelo, lovely to see photo's of Shafiq growing up, he was my favourite foal at Pam's last year, his dam is absolutely lovely
Reply author: firstlady Posting for Mandy
Reply author: Angelo Thank you Mandy, we're very pleased with him, he's a sweet wee chap.
Reply author: Cate Lovely photos of lovely horses.
Reply author: kathleen Lovely horses
Reply author: Lucytoo I have already posted pics of Ari(Dark Prince) on page 2...but since he went out to his first ever ridden show last weekend i thought I would update a couple of pics of him.
Reply author: Nia Shadow
Reply author: TOOTHLESS It's a pity that stallions such as these don't stand to the public. I don't know how many 100% crabbet stallions are not open to the public. If there are quit a few then the Preservationists could be cutting there own throat. It's their choice and there must be good reasons why they do this ,eg, not having to deal with troublesome outside mares etc.
Reply author: LYNDILOU Sad indeed how peoples minds work( sorry read that as closed minds work)
Reply author: Cate IF IT'S NOT PURE CRABBET ,IT'S JUST ANOTHER PRETTY ARABIAN.
Reply author: kathleen That is sad it reminds me of being told by a breeder that my Mareschal daughter Alliya who is in my sig was a cheep alternative to a 100% crabbet 3 or 4 years ago she is worth her weight in Gold to me
Reply author: TOOTHLESS That's right Kathleen. What's the saying: "A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME WOULD SMELL AS SWEET". Shakespeare I think
Reply author: misterei I clearly suffer from just having another pretty arabian(s) (the others are Russian and Russian-German/Polish. This is PSA Safeerah (Saffee) who is about 60% Crabbet, being by PHA Silvern Risalm and Shahi Bint Balaton (Russian).
Reply author: Lindsay Here is my girl:
Reply author: Lindsay Also here is Trigger who sadly passed away at the weekend. His father was the high % Crabbet arabian Fangold (Ringing Gold x Fanya) just thought it would be interesting to let people see what an arab produces when crossed with a Shetland pony - yes he was an accident but what a brilliant one.
Reply author: RUTHIE Wow, Lindsay they are lovely. Sad for you that Trigger has passed away
Reply author: Magician With talk on another thread about crabbet shows this year, how about adding your crabbets to this one.
Reply author: stirling321 I dont own a crabbet but I do believe my boy has crabbet in his pedigree ? could any of you tell me :) have posted a link of his sires pedigree ... we dont know his dams

Reply author: stirling321 Heres my boy .... ha thought I would add him in as he has a low percentage crabbet in him from Rissalma... Reply author: Rodaniyah Beautiful pics!!! :)
Reply author: Rodaniyah Also, Pics of Milastica - I dont know her Crabbet %, as she is a blend of crabbet, polish and El Shaklan blodlines. But she does have that fantastic Rissla Look! She is 20 years old at the pictures :)
Reply author: TanyaB I am putting up some piccies for Madeleine Sutherland of two of her lovely Crabbets. The first is of her beautiful mare Sunlights Imadge (Imad x Autumn Sunlight) who is six this year and 75%+ Crabbet breeding. She was the gold mare champion at the Midland Festival in 2010 with over 90 points, proving that Crabbets really can compete in the in-hand arena:
Reply author: Libby Frost Imad certainly stamps his stock!!
Reply author: TanyaB Doesn't he?! Any they just get better and better as they mature. Two very beautiful babies to continue his legacy.

Reply author: heathermcbreen I have been looking at his thread, I want Kathleens filly (Masliya)Roxy in a weanling foal size. Does anyone know where I can get one. She has to have FOUR long white socks !!
Reply author: TOOTHLESS Rusleema too has been given to a patient of mine as a riding horse.Remounted after 4yrs. Tried to show her earlier on this year but she damaged her off front leg above the knee badly. Quite scarred but of no impediment. She's very hairy at the moment but has a silver sheen to her coat. Such a beautifully balanced mare.

Reply author: Tomos Kaz thanks for the photo of our beloved Bertie (Ibn Marino Marini), we were blessed to own him for half his all too short life. We bought him at eight, having been shut in a stable for nearly a year, and lost him at 16 to stomach cancer, I still miss him every day.
Reply author: Nia Shadow Wow Mandy, Bertie was a star, why do people spend so much money on an animal and then shut it in a stable for a year !!! Disgusting !!! Daphne's Stallion Marino Marini was chosen as his father because "Merrie" was the most athletic horse i have ever had the privilege of riding !! Daphne Cocksedge does breed the most versatile Crabbet Arabians and i'm very fortunate to have her as a friend for 34yrs.

Reply author: TanyanChewy I've been fairly certain for a while now that when my boy retires I'll be getting an Anglo, but if I was to be swayed to a Pure Bred it would be one like Bertie. I do love a powerhouse, leg at each corner type if you know what I mean. He was just luscious!
Reply author: Gerri Long before I owned an arabian horse I had gone to a show with a friend and I don't even know now why we went to an arab show but I saw Crystal Majician and was stopped in my tracks by his beauty I could not take my eyes off him and went to speak to the lady that owned him and I told her that I only had big horses but that I had never ever seen such a horse as hers and from that moment on I was totally in love with the Arabian horse but at that time I did not know about the Crabbets, russian or Se bloodlines
Reply author: Tomos Well Tanya, Debs and Gerri you are all ladies after my own heart, I'll be very lucky if I ever have another Bertie, they're hard to find.

Reply author: Nia Shadow Great news back from the lab today, Marbon Mastarcraftsman tested clear of SCID, LFS and CA, great news for the Crabbet gene pool !!
Reply author: alan Great news xx
Reply author: Magician Great news about Mastarcraftsman. I hope you can find him crabbet mares for the future as he carries some rare blood lines & has such wonderful movement & temperament. It's so good that Melissa has produced 2 pure crabbet stallion sons - Marbon Masadi & Marbon Mastarcraftsman. They have both inherited her incredible action & kind nature. Congratulations Alan for your fantastic day at Equifest - the Lois Rose photos are great!
Reply author: Nia Shadow I hope to have one of Daphnes Crabbet mares. As Masta is clear of all the undesirables Daphne has given me a choice. As Bint Arishma has a foal at foot and empty or one with no foal but in foal to Crystal Romance, great choices, have to decide soon. Arishma and Bint Irexandya have stunning useful foals which make great S/H, which is what im hope to breed with Masta. Very exciting times ahead. Also the market won't affect me as im planning on running the foal on !

Reply author: alan Is Masta 100% GSB as well as being 100% Crabbet?
Reply author: garnet What a fascinating thread. I particularly loved seeing the photos of Ibn Marino Marini as my first Anglo, Autumn Light, was by Marino Marini and out of the TB Autumn Bride, bred by Joanne Lowe. She started my love affair with the Arabian breed. We rarely seem to hear of these lovely bloodlines now although Mikeno was such a star. The Part-breds who have followed Autumn, Vlacq Garnet (Ferozeshah/Hafod Kelly), Aldwych Arabesque (Sunray Scelebrity/Llanarth Rosetta) and Vlacq Redwood Reflection) (Vlacq Khazad/Vlacq Tathar) all have Crabbet bloodlines and all have exhibited those lovely Crabbet qualities.
Reply author: Flick This is my first time posting on here and I am loving this thread!! You all have some very beautiful horses! I am very fortunate to be the proud owner of Silver Xenia by IBN Silver out of Bint Irexandya Romac Stud, shes 5yrs old and I love her to bits! She is my 1st longed for Arab who I have owned for 3 years and she was broken at home by my 17yo sister and myself as a 3yo, she was an angel and has been ever since!! People always comment on how sensible she is for her age all 4 of my children from 10 to 2 years ride her, shes amazing! Ive now said if I buy another horse in the future I'd love for it to be another from the Romac Stud! I will try and post some pics!

So nice to see Silva Fire all grown up. Yemama Rose did a good job. She was lost way too young. Sue
Reply author: Tomos In reply to your request Kaz, here are a few not very good pics of Flame whilst he was with us, please excuse the vest ! he was growing very fast. We bought him as a companion for Gabriel but sadly Ols MS is just too bad to manage an exhuberant yearling, fortunately he now has a very good home with Maggie Wagstaff.
Reply author: Tomos Thought I'd post a couple of Augusta Rheingolde/Fairy Ring for the Courthouse fans, she's about 80% Crabbet but carries 50% Courthouse blood from Rheingolde

Reply author: kate maciver Lovely to see Kaotic (Arnie) is home and happy, I went to look at him in 2009 when he was for sale, he wasnt for me unfortunately but certainly was very beautiful, you have obviously restored him to his former glory.
Reply author: alan I also looked at Kaotic in 1997 but I went for a straight English colt, Silvern Spirit (Silvern Sceptre x Silver Sylph) as I decided I wanted an entire. He was tragically lost in a road traffic accident in 1999. He left only one foal, Ibn Spirit (x Shadowed Gold) who has recently come back to live with me. There seems to be small pockets of Crabbet/OE stallions turning up all over the country. Lisa it might be worth you having a trip to the East of England.
Reply author: alan Just wanted to say a big WELL DONE to "team" Silvern Moonlight for becoming European ridden champions. Another feather in the cap for our Crabbets!!
