The Arabian show season got off to a somewhat belated start on Sunday 27th May when the North Western Arab Horse Class C Show was held at Osbaldeston Hall Riding Centre near Preston Lancs. With the gloom of FMD and the resulting cancellation of so many shows, including the National Show, it was wonderful to get out in the fresh air, see some lovely horses and catch up with peoples news!

Unfortunately the weather did not respond appropriately and it proceeded to drizzle for much of the day. The judges for the pure-breds were Willi Poth (Germany) and Michael Harris for females and males respectively; for the ridden Stuart Fleming (open classes) and Crispin Mould (novices); A/A and PBA in-hand Sandra Plant; and Annette Dixon for the Geldings.

The first class of the day in-hand saw all 6 entries in the Junior Yearling colts present but this trend did not continue through the day with many entries not forward. As a result there was rather a lot of "hanging around" waiting for the classes start times but no doubt it gave the rather wet onlookers chance to catch up on happenings over the "closed" season!

Youngstock by Shaikh Al Kuran dominated giving him the Leading Sire of the Show award. His Straight Egyptian yearling son Shaikh Al Kurali owned and bred by Helen Cawley took the Junior championship and the Overall In-hand Championship. Unusually for stock of his sire this colt is a bright chestnut.

On the female side LTF Kalisha was awarded the Junior championship.

This bay filly is a daughter of the erman "super" sire Kubinec and is out of the imported Selket Wings and is owned and bred by the Cricks of Yorkshire.

Senior entries were rather thin on the ground with the Female Championship going to another Yorkshire entry Helawi Ashgar Bint Roulette (Roulette RD/ Fantasy in Bronze) making a return to the ring for A M Arabians...

In the Anglo and PB in-hand section the bay colt King's Ainjel continued his winning ways.

The ridden classes started with novice Arab stallions and included two interesting entries, Ffortune and Ocean Eilat, who had both done well in-hand as colts making their debut under saddle with the latter standing top of the line. The winning mare Kalista took the Novice Championship.

In the Open Classes Xanthe Barker-Wild took both the Pure-bred and Anglo/PBA Championships with Kharuss Ibn Sadik and Bingham's Royal Lancer.
